It was a pleasure testing this gun. I found nothing glaring wrong with the Ruger 57, except maybe the lack of nitriding the slide. The chamber on their barrels is cut maybe on the smaller end of spec so I'm getting better velocities than any of my FN 5.7 guns. Cost is a definite plus, as well as the slimmer grip. I like the FN's trigger better, but hopefully APEX will make one. I have to imagine we should see a carbine..

For anyone who is interested in the Speer 5.7 Gold Dot test, I was able to test that too:

I bought one from Grabagun based on your and other's reviews.

Yes, it is a single action, sort of.  It has an internal hammer.  With the thumb safety and the Glock like trigger safety you would think that would be enough, but they put in some extra travel for the hammer, I guess as a drop safety.  If you look through the cut out at the back of the slide, you can watch the hammer move even further back as you pull the trigger.  It is this movement that most perceive as "creep".  It is actually a little bit of double action at the end of the trigger stroke.  If it didn't have that, there might be a chance at an excellent trigger pull.  It will never be a target pistol as is.

I have shortish fingers so the grip was actually a pleasant surprise, since I was not able to handle one before buying.  I have no problems reaching the trigger because of the narrow width of grip.

All in all, a nice pistol and good companion for range trips with my CMMG 5.7 SBR and the PS90 SBR.  Wish I could get an AR lower that takes the Ruger 57 magazines.

The DBX takes FN mags, but I recall them saying a Ruger model would be coming. If it proves to be reliable that would give an AR style a run for it's money especially at 3lbs.

I'm pretty interested in picking one of these up, I am curious if it would be possible to have the slide milled for a rmr pattern dot or even a Holosun 507k if that size made it work. The plate is a nice factory option but id prefer having the slide milled.

I've often thought the 5.7 would be a nice little bolt gun round.
A 77/5.7 or a scaled up 10/22 would be fun.
