Yes - you will be in love

Picked up one in 9mm about two weeks ago - Commander size.   350 trouble free rounds so far.  Added a piece of Talon grip tape to the front strap.

Pure joy and happiness !!

But not in Commander length?

My shooting buddy will buy the first Commander 10mm he finds.  But not a custom or semi- custom.  He's too cheap for that.

After being unable to located a Ronin commander, I’ve found a 1970s era Colt lightweight commander.  I want to upgrade the sights and maybe the trigger.  It’s been a long time since I was around a lightweight commander and forgot how sweet the platform is.

Just saw a Ronin yesterday at a local dealer. 9mm though. Looks sweet. No 10mm in stock though.

I did change the grips to Pachmayr wrap around, with no front serrations notice my grip wasn't as snug; the Pachmayr's fixed this.

Will you be in love? I know that I am with both the 4.25" and 5" versions. Great shooters.

I just bought a 5" Ronin.

As an unapologetic 1911 fan, I own quite a few Colts, Springfields, and a Les Bear.  A good spread of semi-custom and factory.

I'm impressed by the fitting on this pistol.  Proof is in the shooting I know.  The slide/frame fit is tight.  No movement in the barrel hood.  The grip safety doesn't rattle (like it does on my Colt Wiley Clapp).  The thumb safety is perfect, it snicks on and off with no play at all.  The trigger is consistent with very little, if any, creep.

I was impressed enough at the shop to impulse buy it.  I'm glad I did.  Had no idea they were scarce.

Love the look of those grips.
Any chance you remember where you purchased them?
Or have the manufacturers part number?
Nothing online right now has that clean look.
Thanks.

They look like Pachmayr wrap-arounds I once had. Google those & see if they are it?

I too just got a NIB production Ronin .45 in 4.25”. 200rds later its function is perfect and well made. Changed out just a couple of parts to make it a little more “me”.  I like it a lot.  Light and will make a fine carry gun.

Just fired #150rds. through my full size Ronin today, +P, HP and FMJ with zero malfunctions, it's accurate and a great looking pistol. I put LOK thin grips on it, all in all I'm happy with it for the price point.

Bought both the 5" 9mm and the 45 to build because they are really nice looking.

Im totally unimpressed with the aesthetic fit of the 45 gun on the back end. The extractor tit sticks out on both, the frame and slide are not blended well and the bottom side of the grip safety on both guns is not good but the 45 is HORRENDOUS. I got them both to build so its not a problem but still kind of sad since I also have a couple Tisas that are blended perfect.

The Slide to frame fit rail wise and barrel fit are really nice better on the 9mm though.

I did a trigger job to both and they both have decent 3.5 lb triggers, I refit the extractors and fit a square bottom FPS to both, replaced the Slide stop and the front barrel bushing with a fitted one on the 9mm and installed a Chen Magwells on both. Havent shot the 9mm since the bushing and oversized slide stop was installed but hopefully this weekend.
They both shot ok before but there was room for improvement. The extractors were really loose but they still worked for the box of shells I put through them before starting my tinkering.

I plan to checker their frontstraps, replace the triggers with flat faced ones, blend them, flat top and serrate the slide and bevel the bottom and have the slides DLCed and probably call it good.

Might also fit a 9x23 barrel to the 9mm - dont know yet

They are very nice platforms for the money.

Stopped at my local LGS. He just bought a bunch of firearms off
one of his regular customers.  I was able to grab a 4.25” Ronin in .45
OTD for $525.00. It was new in box, never fired.  Swapped out the factory
grips for a set of wrap around pachmayr grips. Any other parts/upgrades
you guys recommend?

I've been using a 9mm EMP for 2 months now. In between 750-1000 rounds it was failing to eject spent rounds. I broke it down and the front post of the ejector snapped clean off.

Now it's on its way back to Springfield.

I'm also waiting to hear if they can refinish the gun as it would rust after being carried for a few hours.

Just put 120 flawless rounds through my new Ronin Commander .45. Aguila FMJ 230g using new WC 8rd and 10rd mags. Not a single FTE, FTF.
Brought it home last Monday, finally cleaned and lubed it yesterday.
The only mod was putting the Pachmayr wrap around grips on it. Love that look. Wish I could have found one without medallions, but matches the look of my MC Operator.
Planning on this being main carry and defense pistol and wanted to also change to a solid trigger. For whatever reason, I have this idea that a skeletonized trigger is more likely to get caught on something re-holstering. Maybe an irrational fear, I don't know.
It definitely shot more accurate than me. Loving it!
