What an afternoon. I shot 400 rounds and was hot, tired, and sweat soaked by the time I finished. I was shooting various steel from silhouettes, hostage silhouettes, dueling trees, and a decent plate rack.
This was my third trip taking 6 or more, and at this point, I can confidently say my favorite is the Ed Brown Alpha Elite. There is something about the ergos on the grip of that pistol that fit me like a glove. It is noticeably different in hand than the others.
I want to like the Wilson the best but this CQB Elite has been back to Wilson once already. All malfunctions today were courtesy the Wilson and there were more than a few. Frustrating beyond words that my grail gun is just a range toy for people to coon finger. It has a new barrel that still only has a couple hundred rounds in it so time will tell if it heads back or not. I want to LOVE this pistol!
If you take price into consideration, the Specialist is the winner. Great 1911 that I would be proud to have if it was my only one.
I also have Ruger, Sig, Kimber, Colt, and more Springfield and S&W E Series. I do like them all but put Wilson at the top of the list of disappointments and Ruger at the top of most pleasantly surprised. My Ruger is a Talo edition with rail. I got it for a steal on GB.
The little S&W Scandium frame is a bad ass little pistol. It is very light and the only 1911 I have with a shorter barrel. I am glad I got it to try out. It is a keeper. I carried it all day on a prairie dog trip, but no prairie dogs tried to ambush me so no battlefield assessment there.
Thank the Lord for UpLULA magazine loaders! Only way I can shoot and load that many rounds in one range trip.
Pelican case is a model 1510 compliments of ebay. It has a handle that pops up and wheels so you can roll to the range!
1911s are so much fun!
Lots of rambling, just a fun day at the range I wanted to share.
