Saw these in a ad by IKCI (some sort of distributor)in the latest color edition (12/2017) of Firearms News

Regent BR9 SS (stainless steel)  msrp $484

Regent BR9 SS

Regent BR9 (black cerakote)  msrp $454

Regent BR9 black cerakote

Based on viewing the pics they're stamped TISAS - Turkey.

Looks like TISAS has been sending them to Canada under the "Canuck" brand.

Canuck Hi Power 9mm

Canuck Hi Power 9mm Range Day

Does anyone have any more info on these?  Are they actual 'true" clones?

Thx.

A lot of chatter on other BHP forums concerning this new Hi-Power from Turkey. I'd tell you where it's all happening, but Mod's would close this thread. Price mid $500 shipped one buyer said. Good luck if anyone interested. Awaiting range results myself.

The stainless version has what appears to be beautiful machine work; then they go and put a ridiculous dot-matrix billboard of the word "REGENT" on the side of the slide.

I'm interested.  Any chance they have an alloy frame model?

Too bad they chose the tiny safety.

I will go against the flow here on that. I much prefer the small safety on a Hi Power. I have two older internal extractor HP's and have no problem at all with the safeties. The models in this post are set up pretty much exactly how I like them. One of the SS versions may be in my future.

After this thread being quiet for awhile it great others have noticed this new BHP ~clone? and chimed in.

Found the other info/discussion elsewhere & it looks like a good option.

I agree with other comments on interchangeability/fitment points since almost every parts issue I've had with my BHP has required fitting except the grips and mag.

I will likely get one to give my Mk III some company.

Thx!

Yes, quite a bit of chatter concerning this clone on the forums. Honestly, I already have enough Hi-Powers. So I don't expect to purchase one. But I want to hear some range reports. If someone asks me my thoughts I can say they look the part, but not sure if they'll hold up. Once they start hitting the pipeline, hopefully someone will put this new BHP clone to work for some real world range reports.

According to the rep that I spoke to the stainless version should be back in-stock in mid FEB.

Sorry for the delay !!
It's a fun pistol, I have bought both the Black Ceracote and the SS and like the looks of the SS much more.
SS color is a tad darker in person, which I like, not too shiny.
Grips move some, will have to see about putting something different on it.
Ran about 200 rounds of 115gn round nose through it, no issues.
Came with 2 13rd Mecgar mags, 3 dot (white) sights are decent.
Fit & finish are good, had to remove the magazine disconnect for a better trigger pull.
All in all, I'm very happy with them both.

On a side note, an aftermarket ambi safety I had, did not fit.

Nice.

Post some pics of the black one. I'd like to see some shots of the finish.

Steel frames?

Here ya go.
Tried the ambi-safety on the SS pistol, didn't work.
It installs and you can pull the hammer back to the first click and the safety sets, but not when the hammer is all the way back.
A magnet does stick to all parts.

Oh, the black finish looks good.

All steel, even better.

Bummer about the safety. That just means quality one on one time with it to make it work.

With less than 300 rounds down range, no way to tell.
I know others run their pistols hard, hopefully, they'll give some insight soon.

FWIW, in the thread on the 1911 forum, one owner had his extractor break at 261 rounds.  The consensus was that it was an MIM part.

Its certainly given me pause in my desire to buy one.  I don't want to have to buy one and then replace all the internal parts.  For the cost of that, I could get a Browning HP.

Wish they made at least one model with enough of a beaver tail to prevent hammer bite.  I’ve tried the “no-bite” hammers and I still get bit.

Try a Cylinder & Slide Shop hammer, I have one on my HP shown below and I have never been bit. They have a couple of different styles.

I still can't decide whether to get the black or SS.  Reading about those 2 broken extractors makes me question all the other parts in the gun so I keep changing my mind.

I picked one up at a local gun show today, $533 with tax. Could have waited for Brownells to do another sale but I figure get it while I can

I ran 200 rounds without a burp. Trigger is a tad stiffish but I'm going to run a few hundred more rounds before I decide what I want to do, I've always kept the mag safety intact on my HP's. I did order the BHS upgrade kit posted just in case, I figure I own 3 FN made ones now plus this, spare parts are always welcome

Group photo, BR9 top left. NIB Mk III (my safe queen) top right, bottom left is my "shooter" Mk III in Standard finish and bottom right my Mk III "SFS" I use as a nightstand gun and sometimes CCW piece.

That's the thinking. A couple people have tried swapping slides and had tight fits, other than that it seems to use standard HP spare parts

Update:  Removed mag safety disconnect and that made trigger pull much better according to my trigger finger gauge.  Added extended slide lever, Black micarta grips.  Tried the C&S extended safety, but no go, needs more fitting, especially at the detent pin=need to take some more off, round and polish.  I'm OK with the small safety for now.   According to BHS critical review some factory pins were oversized and that was the case with the sear pin.  It was a bitch to pound out and re-install and then the sear would'nt move freely so I replaced it with a Browning spec sear pin and it popped right in as it should.  Sear moves properly now and while I had it out I did some light polishing.  So if i had to guess, not having an actual trigger gauge, It feels like around 4.5lbs which will smooth out with shooting.  I feel like a Hi Power armorer now lol.  Pretty fun little project.

Damn good looking pistol.
Not that it matters too much but I wonder if the frame is cast or forged.
