Nickel can bring a premium, but 6" guns don't seem to be the ones most people want.
With box and papers it's worth easy 2500-2800 bucks. I would expect a dealer to ask 3K or more though. I'd probably lowball at 1500 to see where they are, and start realistically at 2K. I would not pay box and paper prices that's for sure. |

Last month's Rock Island Auction saw a '77 nickel without box or papers go for $3450.

The big money is in the short barrel one's made in lower production numbers. You can find 50 6 inch barreled ones for sale for every 4 inch one or shorter. |

I have a local shop that has a 6 in blue with org grips he told me 1500 ,nice but has just a little blue wear , I took a new 4 in stainless for 1500 instead ., I asked him this week if he still had it and he said yes , I still may get it .

Save money by purchasing a new stainless 6". Stronger frame and action, nicer trigger and half the price.

I want an OLD blued 6” gun with the full checker grips. Other wise, I am looking at new pythons with improved metallurgy and lock work.
