[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question about current production Springfield 1911 Mil-spec Parkerized handguns

Are the current Springfield Mil-Specs, and I mean like in the last year Mil-Specs as good as they were like just 5 years ago? I heard that something had changed in the last recent time but can’t remember what it was.

I have a local LGS that has one for a decent price but I am not sure I want to jump on it.

They're better.
That was probably around the time that Springfield stopped with the "made in brazil" guns, which included the mil-spec. Now the guns, to me at least, have a higher quality look to them with regards to finishing touches.
Springfield themselves, despite political foot-in-mouth, still has excellent customer service and I'm still happy to own their 1911s.

replace the plastic main spring housing with the internal lock for a quality after market one.

Don't think they ever used plastic.That was Colt. The one Springfield Custom Shop took off my mil spec was metal. The ILS system has been gone for couple years now.
