My mother just bought a TP9 SFX and i noticed if you insert the magazine with any amount of vigor the slide will drop and load a round without any other manipulation...
It seemed to do this with both of the magazines Has anyone had this issue? I am going to pull the gun down and re-clean everything and look for any obvious signs of problems, but short of a trip to the gun shop is there anything obvious i should check? |

This is common with Glock and some other semi auto pistols. With a loaded magazine the follower is not in contact with the slide release. Depending on the design and engagement surface between the slide and the slide catch the slide can disengage from the slide stop. Pistol designs where the slide catch is incorporated into the take down pin as in 1911 the slide is not as apt to jar off. I know LEO’s who liked that the pistol charged itself after slamming home a fresh mag.

I wouldn't mind it so much accept that mom is a new shooter so its not exactly desired

It's a feature not a bug. Why is Mom slamming home the mags hard enough to drop the slide?

Exactly what we all want, when a fresh magazine is inserted with deliberate force, the slide should close with a round drove into the chamber. Not only my TP9SFx, but also my S&W and CZP09 do that too. |
