Friend of mine has this for sale, but he hasn't made up a price yet.

I've handled it. Decent condition, great lockup, excellent shooter. Only the one barrel, but it does include the barrel tool. What would a fair price be?

Thanks for any help!

The Dan Wesson market is hard to sort out.  They're good guns but have always been something of a niche product.  Most buyers are looking for the complete multi-barrel package.  A stand alone like the one you're looking at can languish.

I've seen them go as low as the low $400 range.  Really clean, pristine condition may get closer to $600.  A lot of sellers think they're worth more but they don't move much higher than that.  The market generally considers them a notch below Colt or Smith (fairly or not).

If it were me, I start at 450 and stop at 525.  I also don't need yet another barney 15-2.

I think you could safely go up to 575 and still get a fair price.  I wouldn't go much higher unless it came with more grips, sights, etc

Pluses:  full lug barrel shroud, not beat up
Minuses: Pachmayr grips not factory wood.

If I really, really wanted it, I wouldnt go over $450

Lacks correct front sight and grip.  Set up to be comfortable shooter. Does he have the barrel tool and feeler gauge?  $375 no tools $400 with tools (best shooting DA out there fuck the idiot "collectors")

The EWK front sight is a plus, IMHO, and I don't take off much for the rubber grips. You can get the factory type front sights easily enough if you want to.  If you can get it for less than about $475, go for it. Over $500, I would pass. The price of these guns have gone up to almost S&W levels, where they should always have been. I have a blued 15-2 (What is pictured as the gun the OP is interested in), and a 715, the same gun as a 15-2 in stainless.

$400-425.

Missing original wood grips, significant "Barneying of the frame",  aftermarket front sight.

Monson Guns bring a slight premium (about $20-30),  Barrel tool helps as well.

I just picked up a 15-2 with 6" and 4" barrel, 2 sets of grips, and tools, for $320 out the door. It had holster wear but wasn't trashed.

Are the parts from the new guns compatible with older ones?

Mostly.   The old Pork-chop barrel models (Model 15) are not compatible parts wise with the 15-2.  There are not that many out there though.

The revolver pictured in the original post is a 15-2, made in the original DW factory (Monson)
