Any cross dominant dot users out there?  Any issues or tips?

Thinking about a 507 on my old Gen 2 19 or maybe a 507k on my 43x...  leaning towards the 19 since it should flip less and I’ll lose the dot less.

I'm cross dominant and I haven't encountered any issues, although I'm new to having a RDS on a handgun.

I'm cross dominant and no issues.
Should not cause an issue regardless.  If you have both palms in contact with the grips, it doesn't matter if you shift 1" to the R to line up with R eye, or 1" to the left to line up with L eye....

I guess I get to join this club now, since I have an actual micro RDS on a centerfire, rather than slapping a red dot on a Ruger 22/45.

I'm cross dominant and had a hard time transitioning.  Good part is that your eyes are muscles so can be trained. Takes awhile but well worth it.

I'm genuinely curious as to what your use case is for your setup. Do you activate your light and leave it on, or are you able to manipulate the momentary controls?

Activate constant on light if necessary to ID things, being careful to leave hands behind light and under the frame.  Still working on it.

Not ideal, but it's partially hedging bets against idiocy from the VA legislature, not to mention federally.

Guys need some pros and cons here.

I've got a Gen5 mos 19 with a rmr non adjustable on top.  Its a love hate relationship with this optic.  Very difficult to find the dot at night with a light "on" but i should have known this.  So considering selling and getting an adjustable one????

So my conundrum is i have a G17 gen4 that i want to send off to get the slide milled and defiantly getting a rmr cut.  But cant decide between another rmr or a new Holosun.  RMR is proven but I've never owned a Holosun before but that reticle looks awesome.

Picture for attention:

I was a little confused as well. I'm not sure how I'd use that light. I would probably just go with a handheld light instead. What are the rail covers for?

I've had type2 adjustable RMR's. I prefer to buy holosun now. They just have more features that I'm looking for with circle-dot reticles, side loading battery, auto-off with shake awake, solar backup. That siad RMR will take the most punishment. When the 50tv2's become available, I'll never consider another RMR until Trijicon adds similar features.

Seemed like a good idea at the time .

I'll keep the rail covers off, so that I can use the irons if the RDS is detached (the 1913ish rails have a trough down the middle for that purpose).

And a handheld light would make it difficult to do things like open doors/corral the kiddos/hold the phone in the non-gun hand.

Trying to reload with a handheld isn't hard but it does smash the light up to the gun. Not a big deal for stainless.

It doesn't seem quite as easy as a wml on an auto but still simpler than a handheld. Its just a longer reach.

Is the Leupold DPP as problematic as the reports seem?  I'm thinking about trying a red dot again and apparently these are what STIs are cut for.

I can run an SRO but it would higher, I previously used an RMR.  Hopefully the gunk blown onto the glass issue was more isolated to that gun.

Too bad the ACRO battery life didn't pan out.

The RMR has the same base height with the plate as the DPP.  The DPP base is pretty tall, I tried one for a couple months and went back to the SRO on my XC.

I don’t know which version of the DUO plate you have but the newest ones are about .150” tall and I think the CHWPS plates are even lower.

Newest.  How is the SRO?  Any issues overhanging the ejection port?

I thought the DPP direct mounted with no plate, which is why the DUO/DPO comes with just a rear sight to run with the DPP.

The overhang hasn’t been an issue on any of my STIs.

What I’m saying is the DPPs base is as tall as the RMR and plate. I absolutely hated the adjustments on the DPP.

I agree but the 1911/2011 slides are too narrow for a direct mount RMR unfortunately.

I guess shooting at objects that don’t move or shoot back in a no stress environment while shooting in the box really doesn’t necessitate the need for more than a dot only.

Regular dot worked fine for me when "people shot back".

I was more referencing the shake awake gimmick but a fancy reticle isn't necessary for CQB either.

My first experience with the SRO.  All of my time has been spent on the RMR, 507c.  This window is massive, and it sits up high.  I notice that my head stays much more upright naturally.

Whats your plan for the g26? What generation and aftermarket or milling?

That will be a solid little package capable of fast+accurate shooting

Have a bid on a Gen4 on GB, but if that falls through I'll grab a frame and aftermarket slide already milled. Have looked at the Rock Slides (local to me) as well as Brownells and a few others. Cost would be about the same as I figure it, should be sub $1K in the whole package.

I like the idea of a short, quick, accurate package that hides very easily. The RMR negates the short sight radius and then I'm going to be the variable, not small misses in sight alignment

After poopooing red dots for years, even a post on the first page of this thread, been doing digging and research and decided to give RDS a try.
I picked up a new Glock 19.5mos for $550, love GSSF, and waiting on decision about red dot.
Thinking the rmr06 or 508t with aftermarket plate for better fitment.

First and last time using Dynamic Weapon Solutions (DWS).  Slide cut came out good, but their customer service is not the best.

I ordered the slice cut and a 407K (not the dot pictured).  The dot was in stock when I ordered it.   For some reason, a month later, they tell me they were out of the 407K.  They offered a trade to an instock 507K. I agreed of there was no additional cost.  They responded that they would do the trade.  Fast forward another month and a half, I found out that they were out of the 507K.  They refunded me.  Not sure why it took them so long to figure out they didn't have the dots.  Felt like they strung me along for two and a half months to keep me from cancelling the whole order.
