Thought I was going to use a PL-2 Valkyrie but not enough rail space.  Too bad because I like the light and already odered a holster for this combo before trying to put the two together and realizing my mistake. Let’s just say there’s a great deal on a brand new P320 Compact (standard grip) + PL-2 holster in the EE now.  So what’s out there for this grip frame with only 3 rail spaces?  TLR-1s doesn’t fit either. Would prefer a light that protrudes beyond the muzzle for some stand off but seems like the only options that will fit are compact lights. Use case is concealed carry and I’ll take all the lumens I can get.

I have a TLR-7 on mine.  Works OK, but the switches are weird.  If your not in a hurry, Streamlight is supposed to be releasing the TLR-7A with "better" activation switches.

You can get plenty of holsters for this combo as well.

Good luck OP.

Another vote for the TLR7

I’m leaning towards the TLR-7 but the switches are what has stopped me from buying. It’s not really clear how they are activated. The manual just says “tap”.  Interestingly the manual online also shows the -A variation switch operation which looks like a better option. Guess I’ll be waiting.

I’m honestly a bit surprised the PL-Mini 2 isn’t compatible on the X-Compact rail, it seems to be specifically designed for most sub-compact sized pistols which is the barrel and rail length on the X-Compact. Are you sure there isn’t some adjustability in the PL-Mini 2 that would make it fit? You might want to check again before you sell it off. Properly adjusted and fitted it should be compatible and fit flush with the muzzle.

I could’ve sworn I’ve seen X-Compact grips with the PL-Mini 2 on Instagram...I’ll do some research and see what I can dig up

Here you go, jump to the 3:00 mark for an explanation on how to properly mount and adjust the light on your pistol;

The RIGHT WAY to install the Olight PL-Mini 2 on a rail (aka the Olight PL-Mini2 Rant)

Try again using the adjustability and you should get it to mount and fit flush with the muzzle;

If you choose to go the TLR-7 route (they’re great lights, I had one for a while until I switched to X300U for personal preferences) you may wait a bit as they’re coming out with an alternate version with different switch positioning that you may prefer;

I have the TLR 7 like many others. No complaints here.

On a side note - accidentally activated the light in my range bag. It was in for about 10 minutes straight. That little thing gets hot!

Appreciate the thorough replies.  However, my issue is with the PL-2 Valkyrie, not the Mini - don’t have one of those.  The Valkyrie will mount to the standard P320 compact grip frame with 4 rail slots, but will not mount to the X-Compact grip frame with 3 rail slots. Would much prefer a light that provides a stand off from the muzzle but looks like that’s not going to be an option.

Will most likely be waiting for the TLR7-A version.  Sucks that I’m going to take a big loss on the holster but totally my fault.

AH, my apologies I misunderstood which Olight model you were referring to. In that case it does sound like the TLR-7 would be your best option, it’ll be compatible with the shorter rail and provide the slight stand-off you’re looking for. I had a TLR-7 for a while, they’re great lights and very bright. And the forthcoming second version with the re-designed switchology should make it that much more useable.

Unfortunately I haven’t found any information on the shipping date of the new TLR-7 with the alternative switches, so you might be waiting a few weeks or a few months...

ETA: Have you considered or looked at the Inforce APL? It might fit on the three-slot rail and would extend beyond the front of the Compact length slide. Another option to consider

The TLR-1HL does fit with the X compact when used with the S&W locking bar.
