Thus far, my 10mm arsenal has been a Colt DE, a Ruger 1911, several Glock 20's and a S & W M&P 10 four inch. Although it might be a bit early in the evaluation process, the S&W is fastly becoming my favorite. The only problem is finding a suitable holster for carrying IWB and a chest rig for hiking. Although it lacks capacity the Ruger is very nice. The Glocks have been my carry choice due to their capacity and their reliablity but are a bit bulky. The Colt DE has been sold, although a bit of remorse exists for doing so. It was as good as the Ruger but like the Ruger it lacked capacity.
I carry my 10mm guns when working on my properties which are situated in grizzly country. The guns (Glocks and S&W) I practice with are draw and shoot without having to undo a safety. If things go south fast I do not wanting to be pressing a trigger and not being able to fire because I did not undo the safety. as would be required on a 1911 carried cocked and locked.
The new SIG X Ten looks intriquing and once they are out for a while I will likely acquire one of them.
I have been transitioning to optics so most of my carry guns and HD guns now wear them. Two of my Glocks and my Smith have them.
