Good on them. Not sure how I feel about it being a different lock up design…

I like them but, this feels like a child wanting the toy they lost interest in years ago. What's next FN starts to release a line of retro fals?

That would actually be really awesome.

There's demand, but your only options are to buy overpriced parts kits and hard to find receivers in this dried up market or a DSA. The more options, the better.

Meh... Cool gun but the ambi slide stop is ugly and the msrp of $1249 is just too high.

With the Springfield coming in at $699, these FN's should have been priced at $999 or even a bit less for the plain black one.

Yes I am aware the Springfield SA-35 production is currently on hold due to multiple problems but I have almost zero confidence this FN will work 100% right away either. Hi powers are a lot like 1911's in the fact that you can't just throw them together and expect them to work. They really need proper design, materials, fitting and attention to detail in order to work reliably.

Sure FN had the hi power's really figured out years ago but those were actual hi powers built in a very different era of firearm manufacturing.

Maybe I am just a pessimist but I am guessing the FN hi power is going to have major teething issues for the first year or so and the price of $1249 is just not worth it to most people. I view the FN 509 LS edge very similarly. Cool package but the trigger is still too heavy and FN really over priced it.

I'll need to start checking out CDNN in the future - just in case they don't go over that  well.

The fit and feel were nice. The safety was functional without getting in the way. The ambi slide release was functional but large. I liked the easier breakdown method.... but it's not a hi-power, and didn't feel like it was twice the gun of the Girsan.

It felt nice and was very well made. I put it down as soon as the rep mentioned MSRP.

How was the frame to slide fit? Lockup?

Wondering if this could be a viable choice for a Limited USPSA/3 Gun pistol with a few modifications and tuning

The barrel fit was tight. The frame/slide had a little play, but nothing excessive - similar to an average Sig P226 fit.

Anybody know when these are supposed to get released? They should hurry up and introduce a Tactical model too

You can search the UPC (from FN web page) and find them listed at various websites (linked via gun.deals).

None are in stock yet.  I thought I read late Q1.

Excellent, thank you!

I'm honestly not sure why I'm so excited for the release of the basic model, if I do actually get one it'll be if and when they release a Tactical model with accessory rail and optics cut...

I bought a Girsan and walked away, exact copy and very well made.

You're not.

If it's an attempt to capitalize on a classic handgun they screwed up a lot of the aesthetic with the finishes, ambi controls, and full length guide rod; and if it's an attempt to modernize the BHP then they sort of half assed it by not including a light rail or an optic cut option.

There's also the fact it uses proprietary mags instead of BHP mags.

Best place to get a Girsan HP?

I remember reading that it has proprietary magazines... i.e. your old hi-power mags will not work. Can someone confirm?

They're larger capacity and not compatible with original HP magazines, per a rep at SHOT.

Knowing FN, they should call it the HPX

I am seeing them for sale now, and two things are working against them for me.

1. I just don't find the pistols attractive
2. I can get a SIG 226 or 229 Legion for just a bit more.

I'm not a SIG fan, but dollars to dollars, I would choose a SIG over the new HP.

There’s a couple of the FDE models for sale on Gunbroker now:

Just auctions, but these are the first guns I’ve actually seen on the market since they were announced. So that’s something at least

I'm going to stick with the original design.  Honestly, the newer gun is probably a "product improved" but if I want an "improved" 9mm I'm going to grab a Glock Gen 5 or HK P30 series.  I'm into BHPs for the nostalgia, etc.  An updated version doesn't interest me in the least.  I held a Springfield SA35 in a local shop last week.  It was a nice gun with REASONABLE updates but remained true to form.

FN has turned out some real crap over the past 20 years.  The entire FNP/FNX line with their rubber like polymer frames / lack of reliability, SCAR with its short comings (I owned over 15 of them with  L   O   T   S of rounds down range so I'm not regurgitating internet BS), etc.  Now they're pushing a new version of the BHP?  Why?  People would buy a traditional BHP without the mag safety all day long.  You'd think they'd look at 1911 sales (which continue to INCREASE) and re-release the original 1935 gun.  What evs.  I'll spend my dollars elsewhere.

I like this new design. The hammer bite issue is gone . The mag disconnect safety is gone, it has 17 round mag, the SIG Barrel System, etc.. . It reminds me of a single action version of the Walther P88.

Here is the best review on it.
