Saw it at a gun shop but can't remember the designation.  The shop is kind of far away.

A modified S&W M39 with ASP sights?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASP_pistol

No, the New Agent with "trench sights".

Thanks for the replies.  Store has it like new for  under $600.  Not sure if it is worth it or not

Looks like Colt doesn't make it anymore.

Seems like a decent deal but I’m not sure about a groove sight on a 1911

I'm assuming it's a 45, they did make them in 9mm as well.

It's a nice little gun.

Recoil can be a bit snappy, some eject the spent brass in random directions, need the extractor tuned or replaced if this happens.  45 acp brass can leave a circle cut in the center of your forehead, lol.  Older recoil springs were only good for 500 - 750 rounds, I have heard the newer ones last longer.  The sight is  not that great for longer range shots.

That being said I really enjoy mine. It conceals well, and is fun to shoot.  I treat it like I would a snub nose revolver, more point and shoot at closer ranges.  The trench sight works ok but not quickly.  Imo.  Quickly may be the wrong word, i got used to it, but it's a different animal than my other carry guns.  Probably why I practice more point n shoot with a quick glance down the trench sight.

Same basic gun as a colt defender, just a different sighting system.

It is a belly/point shoot gun. I really like mine and it runs perfectly but never understood why they did not make it in stainless like the Defender.  The trench sight is perfect for me for CC.  I feared it would wear into the finish fairly quickly carrying AWIB so I built a copy on a Fusion frame with a SS Caspian Officer slide.

Laser grips. Sweet firearm though.

I've got one in 9mm.  I used to carry it daily but it was a bit big for my corporate gig.  Ended up going with a Kimber SOLO that I currently use.  The New Agent 9mm does sometimes come out of the safe but just not much anymore.

Shoots good and is reliable.  Just figure if I'm going to carry a 3" 1911 I might as well carry my Night Defender.

A New Agent is a great little gun.
I have carried mine for years now.
Best conceal pistol out there.
Buy it...600 is a steal especially new.
Manageable recoil, accurate as you can be and knock down power!
Does the shop have a website?
I'd buy it!

Thanks a lot OP for reminding me about this nice little gun. I handled one years ago at an Academy and really liked it. Was thinking about buying it but other stuff came up and I eventually forgot about it. Now I'm looking everywhere for one.
If you don't buy it let me know!

Thanks again, OP. I finally found one on Gun Broker and won the bid.
I think I did pretty good for 800 bucks, plus it came with the Crimson Trace Master Series grips as well as the stock Colt ones.
Great condition with box and two (2) mags.
So, did you get yours?

What about the TIKI-T?  It has a groove and four tritium inserts in the slide to help you line up your shots.

Made by Infinity out of titanium.

But not a Colt, so not really relevant to the thread.
