I bought this guy NIB in January 2017,  I bought 10k zero 230 FMJ bullets at the same time. I have 1400 bullets left.  It jammed the very first round out of the Baer magazine not once since. I’ve since switched to Wilson ETM’s 8 and 10 round mags.

I’ve owned a Wilson Supergrade, 3 CQB elites, a CQB, SA Pro, TRP, some Dan Wesson’s and Colts and none of them have come close to fitting my hand like this gun does. Other that pulling the CZ shadow out occasionally to make sure it still works the Baer is my handgun.

I can usually put 8 rounds into a 1" dot at 25 yards with my 4.4gr load of WST/Zero combo (rested of course.)

nice! they are great guns. I have a competition version with i literally don't even know how many rounds through it, and a new to me TRS with a good few thousand in the last year alone. I have owned everything from Armscore, Colt, SA, Kimber, Dan Wesson, etc, and I'll be damned if the Baers aren't the nicest in the bunch. I am convinced you can spend more on a 1911 but you can't get more out of one.

They are great.  I have a much older one, and after a lot of lead downrange it is still a shooter, and smooth.  Like oil on ice when the slide moves.Attachment Attached File

A blued 1911 with appropriate wear marks in the best looking handgun out there to me.

For me I'm always focusing on the front strap blend job with the grips.  Like the two tone Baer above.  That one looks like it would be so nice to grip (I really like that one).  A frame like that feels a ton better to me than a standard frame.  Unless you put pachmyrs over the standard frame.  Then it's good to go.

I like my Les Baers, one is a two tone concept 1V and the other is an alloy framed Stinger. I have read that LB only made 65 of them with an alloy frame. It makes a great light weight carry gun, I can't stop buying 1911s. I just picked up another STI today.

Always wondered...is it THAT ugly in person? Never seemed too terrible in pics? Definitely looks good in yours.  How does it hold up? Is it the newer finish they use on the SRP? Notice any improvements in the SRP over the TRS etc?

It's pretty dang ugly compared to a nice blued finish or something like melonite, black nitride, etc. It looks better in pictures than real life. It seems to hold up reasonably well, though mine looks worse in person than in that picture. Like most SRPs that have been used  it has a fair amount of wear on the barrel hood, the sharp edges of the slide and frame from holster wear, and a couple dings and scratches here and there.

I've never shot a TRS, but there's something about this SRP...I just can't put it down. It's more accurate than I can shoot it, perfectly reliable, and has this "all business" attitude that really appeals to me.

My first Baer looked just like that after a year and a few cases of ammo.   The bluing is so thin a leather holster will just about wipe it off.

This Springfield Custom Carry was close to 40K when this picture was taken.  It's Armory Coat.

Frontstrap and dust cover is thicker.  The one I had wouldn't fit in kydex for a 1911.  Milt Sparks makes different holsters just for Baer guns.

I knew the frontstrap was larger, I didn’t know about the dust cover.  I guess that’s why that leather holster seemed a little tight, all broken in now though

Bought my first 1911 in 1984. That gun was a USGI Colt Slide on a craptastic Essex frame.  The following year, Colt released the Officers Model.  I traded the parts gun and cash for a new Officers.  The Officer Model didn't work reliably. During the 34 years between that first junk parts gun and today, I've owned many many many 1911s.  Some have been utter garbage. Some have been marginal.  A few have a been good. Fewer yet have been great.

I've had:

AMT
Auto Ordnance
(many) Colt
(couple) Dan Wesson
Ed Brown
(couple) Essex Parts Guns
IAI
(many) Kimber
(6 or 7) Les Baer
Llama
(couple) Norinco
(many) Para Ordnance
(couple) Remington
(couple) Ruger
(many) Sig Sauer
(couple) Systema
(many) Smith & Wesson
(many) Springfield Armory
Taurus

Dan Wesson makes a very nice 1911 in the Valor series.  However ....

My favorite 1911 is without a doubt Les Baer's UTC.  Over the years, I've owned 2 blued UTC, 2 or 3 blued Custom Carry, 1 stainless Custom Carry, and 1 HC SRP.  My current LB is a Blue NFCS UTC that I plan to keep for the long haul.

I love seeing everyone's well loved and worn LB's.  They just look "right" to me.

I really like it but i prefer different sights and flat triggers in my 1911s

You can generally get sights and triggers that Baer offers, nothing else, IE 10-8 style.
Uncle les is kind of a dick when it comes to using non-baer stuff.

His nights sights suck ass, as does SA version.
