I need a .22LR pistol, l like both Ruger's.

Which do you own and why?

Thanks in advance.

22/45.. because the grip angle isn’t so funky. I like the Lite model but in hindsight the Tactical variant 22/45 with the bottom rail for a light would have made a fun night time plinker.

I ended up going with the 22/45 tactical.  I preferred my dad's standard grip angle but couldn't find it in a tactical model.  Now that I've shot the 22/45 a lot, I'm pretty happy with it.  I carry it trapping with a dead air mask and couldn't be more pleased.

@Weasel_Master

What kind of holster setup are you using for the 22/45 + Mask setup?

Sewed together a piece of leather for a cheap and dirty holster.  It's attached to my pack basket.

Make sure you get one of the newer models where the upper reciever hinges on the lower.
Makes take down for cleaning alot easier than the older models

22/45.  Easier training for other guns.

The MKiv controls are more like 1911s.

It's very similar to the AR15.

Oh I'm familiar. It's just that people make a mountain out of a mole hill with the older versions. It takes less than thirty seconds to field strip and reassemble an MK III.

I went with a MKIV 22/45 Lite. Its blue.
I got it for hiking/hunting. I freaking love that thing.

Probably my favorite handgun.

Eta. I'll never buy any older models.  I don't care how "unmanly" the takedown button on the MKIV is. I love it.

Go pick up and see which one feels better in YOUR hands.  I went MKIV because it came up dead perfect every time.  It's a giggle factory suppressed.

I've owned a 22/45 MkII and a MkIII. I now own a MkIV Target. Honestly, it's a tossup. I appreciate the weight of the Target. Keeps it steadier.

While true, I still bought a Majestic Arms Speed Strip Kit for my 22/45 lite pictured above.  But this was all well before the MkIV came out.

Got the MK IV Tactical but prefer my S&W Victory 22 more.  It seems better made and more accurate.

The drawback of the 22/45 is the mag and mag release, hangs up on my hand
and doesnt release properly. Kinda gets stuck where the other flies out when you
hit the release. The fix is fairly easy, just have to remove the mag safety and then
will fly out with ease, while your in there put in a new sear and drop the trigger pull
to a few pounds

MK II was my second pistol buy back in the late ‘80’s.  Decided I needed a new .22 last spring and couldn’t decide between the MK IV and 22/45, so I bought both.  It’s a fun afternoon when I take all 3 out to the range.  I like the MK IV best, my wife likes my old MK II.

I love my .22/45. It is a fantastic plinker.

Sucks not being a machinist because it is a royal PITA to reassemble.

I LOVE my MKIV 22/45.  I worked in a gunshop awhile back and got pretty good at reassembling the older gens. But frankly IDGAF. MKIV for life!

It takes less than 30 seconds with proper technique.

Take an hour and practice. It's worth the effort.

I’ve got the 22/45 Lite and it’s every bit amazing as it’s Mark II granddaddy with 2 exceptions.

1. It has a Mag safety.

2. The Mark II trigger is magnitudes better but that could be because it’s been shot sooooo damn much compared to the Lite.

get both like I did. I plan on running a Dead Air Mask on the tactical when it gets out of jail.

I've had both(MKIII)and I prefer the 22/45 grip angle. I went without a .22 pistol for awhile and was going to get a MKIV 22/45 but ended up getting a Buckmark. It's nice also but I might still get a 22/45 again sometime.
