My next purchase is going to be an M&P 10mm unless Glock drops a 20 Gen 5 MOS first, in which case the M&P will be my second next purchase.  I'm debating over the two barrel lengths. I have two Delta Elites, so I'm generally used to longer barrels but the 4" just looks right to me. What is the group consensus?

4.6
Most complaints have been with the 4.0

More feeding issues requiring tinkering with the recoil spring weight have been reported with 4” vs 4.6”.  Plenty of aftermarket guide rods and recoil springs exist for the 4.6” (4.6” exactly duplicates the M&P45 s insofar as recoil assembly).

I went with the 4.6” and I’m happy so far.

Totally agree, from all the online reviews I’ve read here and elsewhere.

4.6 is my vote. Better sight radius and not much larger in size

I went to pick up a pistol from my FFL today. If they would’ve had a 4.6 I’d have brought home two pistols. They didn’t have any 10mm M&P’s at all.

I can't comment on the 4 inch but my 4.6 inch has performed perfectly so far and I doubt you'll notice the extra half inch.

Get the 4.6. Mine is totally reliable and accurate. Someone stated up above that you will not notice the extra .5 inch, but there have been wayyyyy less complaints of issues with the 4.6, so size does matter .

Just for comparison, the 4.0 is the same length and height and just a touch fatter than a Combat Commander 1911.
For those wanting a commander size 10mm this is the one.

I shot some Buffalo Bore 200gr hot loads out of mine.  No malfunctions.

Also, the 4.6” barrel version should be an exact clone insofar as exterior dimensions are concerned with the M&P45 2.0.  Meaning kydex holsters will be easier to source.

I don’t think there’s a comparable M&P45 to the 4” M&P10mm.

If you really want the 4”, then get the 4”.  But for anyone on the fence between 4” or 4.6”, I think multiple reasons point to 4.6”

Well, I wanted the 4.0" but thought the 4.6" was probably the better idea. So I ordered one tonight from Battlehawk Armory.

I couldn't decide so I got both. Lol I haven't had a chance to compair velocities via labradar but I dont think their will be a lot. I think I will actually carry the 4" as it fits my current appendix holster for my 4" 9mm w/TLR7 and keep the 4.6 as a hunting/woods gun. They both run Underwood after recoil spring change. The 4" can use G20 flatwire springs on the stock guide rod if you pull the 1/4" bolt off the end. 4.6 I used existing wolff guide rod and spring from the 4.5" 45acp M&P after ready all the info in the S&W pistol forum. Long story short-Get Both! Lol
