So I bought the Beretta/Walther M9-22 last year. The M9A1 version. I also have the Colt/Walther 1911 .22 and it’s been 100%. So I confidently picked up the Beretta. While it’s ran 100%. No jams through around 500 rounds now, it does something no other .22 pistol has done to me…
Sometimes while firing, it will blast hot powder, gases, sparks, I don’t know what to call it back into my face. Luckily I’ve always had sun glasses on while shooting it, because I’m honestly worried about eye damage from it if I ever fired it without eye pro. It’s not every clip. And I’m sure it’s something primarily with the ammo (all federal copper plated bulk pack so far). But through 500 rounds it’s probably done it 9-10 times. I’ll be shooting and get a hot burst of gas/powder whatever that comes blasting through the back of the pistol and hits me right in the face.
My Colt/Walther 1911 has never done this, or any other .22 pistol I’ve fired. From the design of the Beretta, it’s almost like there’s a direct gap near the hammer that goes right through the gun to the chamber. Which is allowing hot gases or unburnt powder to blast back through.
Anyone else with the M9-22 experienced this?
