Got a 9mm RIA tac ultra I want to put a threaded barrel on for use with my suppressor that is currently still in jail.
Well, it seems that the clark/para ramp style must be the more unpopular version of a ramped barrel, as I am having a hard time finding what I want.

It is a regular bushing type barrel (not bull), 5 inch/full size. Just looking for a good quality SS barrel, fitting required is fine. Want 1/2-28 threads.
Seems the clark/para ramp is the limiting factor.
Not having any problems finding a wilson/nowlen ramped version.

Jarvis makes one I can order, but it is going to be close to $300. Was hoping to find one in the $200-$250 range.

I am not against buying a 6 inch barrel and trimming it back a little and threading it myself (I have a lathe and can thread), and I am thinking I may have to do this.
6 inch clark/para ramped barrels seem to be not too very hard to find. I just need to make sure I do not get one that has a taper to it (flares at the muzzle for the bushing).

What options are out there?
PWS

Yea I saw those fusion firearms barrels.
I did a little looking and the company seems to be well hated on a couple forums I looked at. Though, it seemed to mainly be their guns and not so much the parts.
They had those barrels on sale on their site for labor day for $175, but I hesitated because of all the bad reviews of the company. The next day I figured it was worth a chance and went back to order one and the sale was over.
So now I am back to debating if it is worth a chance or not.

Try looking at Bar-Sto barrels.  They have terrific customer service.  I have had them install barrels for me and the work turned out GREAT!

Looks like one of those is going to run around $325. For that price I would just get a jarvis.

For an RIA the fusion should do you just fine.

Fusion has gotten their rep, for better or worse on “other” forums, specifically geared towards 1911s because they are often compared to much high end manufacturers and guns….

Not that the RIAs are junk, but they aren’t semi customs, customs for even high end production guns…. The fusion would be just fine if the bar-sto price is turning you off…

Never claiming my RIA is a match gun and race ready. It is not a high end, but it does not seem like it is junk.
Hence the reason I do not want to dump a ton of money into a barrel, but do not want a crap tastic barrel either.

I might keep a eye on those fusion barrels and see if they go on sale again.

I recently had Bar-Sto do one of their super fitted barrels, and liked that so well I sent in another pistol to have them install a half drop in barrel..both barrels are fabulous.  Sure, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I can't compare them to other barrels OP mentions because I have no experience with them.

Interesting.
Not sure how I overlooked that post recommending to check them out.
The barrel is the style I am looking for and the price seems right.
Anyone have any experience with them?

They are solid. If you’ve seen the Platypus thread, that’s them.

While I don’t have a Platypus, I have built several 1911s on their frames and used several of their parts including barrels (none threaded, so can’t comment on that aspect). Very good quality, and attention to detail.

I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to order anything from them.

Alright, order placed.
It does not mention if they are drop in or fitting required, however I can handle fitting if needed.
Once it gets here I will report back.

Barrel showed up in the mail saturday.
I have never bought a aftermarket 1911 barrel, so I have nothing to compare to.
However, the barrel appears to be very well machined/made. The threads look perfect, the thread protector looks just as good and has a o-ring to help hold it in place. Comes with a barrel link, pin, and barrel bushing. All look just as good.
The bore looks great, very well finished, 6 grooves and the lands have slanted sides, like 5r rifling.

The barrel bushing fit just fine.
The barrel is going to need a little hand fitting.
I test fitted it. The barrel hood width is good, it fits fine, and the length of it is fine right now, but the fitting is going to be on the two flats on each side of the chamber, what some call the "chamber face".
I need to pick up a better file than what I have. The ones I have are too small and fine. The other files I have do not have smooth edges, so not good for barrel fitting.
