They have M9 and 92FS for $449.99 and M9A1 for 499.99.

Fighting temptation hard.  Don't even know why.  I don't need another full size 9mm.

No.  get a 92X with the $100 rebate.  Better gun, more upgrades, 3 mags included.  $559 at locked loaded.  I just ordered one myself.  $459 after rebate is a no brainer.

That sounds like the way to go.

My 92A1 is a crazy fun gun so definitely get one or the other.  I love mine.  It's big and it's heavy but it's very accurate and smooth shooting.

I'd expect most of the older guns will be phased out at some point, what with all the new X models. I half wondered of that was why prices had dipped.

I have all the ones you listed, and you can't really go wrong with any of them. I would suggest though, that you opt for something with a dovetailed front sight. The only options for these guns for a more modern sight, is pinning a new one over the old one, milling the old one off and dovetailing the slide, or drilling it for a night sight vial.

I picked up an M9a1 to use as a .22 conversion host, and was a little surprised to see it still had a conventional integral sight. If you don't care about that, they are all good buys.

The x models are a good deal as well with the rebates.

The only answer is to get one of each, OP.

My LGS's distributor no longer has any A1 models for sale, limited M9/92FS models.

Same, I’d get the m9a1 if you want a rail but they all shoot great!

It wouldn't surprise me if the M9A1 goes out of production, except in the LTT variant.

I think the M9 and 92FS will still be available since it's usually the cheapest way to get a 92 series pistol, if you don't count surplus guns.  Rail-less frames may go away eventually though.  Sig hasn't had rail-less frames in normal production for years now.

If you want something basic without a rail. Get the M9, not the 92FS.

Straight dust cover, backstrap difference,  m9 markings, etc.

The M9 definitely looks cooler in my opinion. But Italian made guns have far better quality control in my experience.

Most of what you listed is actually why I believe that the 92fs is an improvement over the m9 (with the exception of the markings)...

92fs has the angled dust cover which was introduced to increase frame strength and a slightly smaller grip that most prefer...and I happen to think that the 92fs looks pretty good as well...
