This gun is 45 years old with the “love em or hate em” large rollmarks on the original 70 series. Complete with box, papers, collet bushing etc..

That is a great looking pistol. Ever been shot? Looks brand new.

Why are the words on your gun yelling at us?

JK, cool shooter.

I wish they were still doing it that way
Its hard to see but you can see the progression from right to left. An original 70 series on the right with high polish blue. A 72b serial numbered 70 series reproduction in the middle 2015 timeframe and finally the 73 b serial numbered 70 reproduction. The 72b repros had polished flats but not to the extent that the originals had. By the time Colt introduced the 70 series repros in the 73b serial range the flats came unpolished. This is the same finish you will see on current Colt 1911 Classic series.

I think the reference was directed towards the newer Springfield rollmarks which many people dont care for

Nice!!!! Somewhere in the stacks of 1911's I have a Series 70 9mm............

And now I'm going to have to haul out the Brian Bilby Comped Colt Commander and do some shooting...................

I think I have some ammo somewhere.

Mine is a '79 that I've owned since '92, not a good pic.

I like the new smaller Springfield rollmarks vs their older ones, but that’s me. A larger rollmark wouldn’t stop me from buying something I like however, if given a choice less is better.

Thought I would share a 1973 Colt to compliment the 1978 in OP

On the subject of Colt's blue, here's my Grandpa's 1903 (made in 1909)

30 something at last count.

The non cut grips were kind of weird, I still can't figure out exactly what years had them come from the factory.
