Single shot, break open, single action.  Gun has a bbl length just shy of 6" to include chamber, appears to have a 6 grove rifling and bore is .312.  Both a 7.62x25 Tok and 7.62x39  M43 drop way inside the chamber.  Chamber is for a rimmed case so I have to look for a M1891 7.62x54R case next.  One gun I will not shoot.

ETA: Not a 7.62x54R, maybe .303 British then?

Looks like they copied the locking lever off a Webley.  Nice score.

Why not?  Recoil won't be that bad when there's only 3" of barrel and slow-burning rifle powder.
Should make a very nice hand-held, re-loadable flash-bang though

That's neat, could it be .303 British?

If it is 7.62x54 you can get chamber adapters to shoot .32 acp.

I second this. Best I can tell it's something from the late 1800s, almost looks like something the Egyptian army could have had, might be something derived from mauser? Shot in the dark really. I'll do some research. If that fits a 54r, that's knarly. I'll take it

Finally got a few 7.62x54R rounds and they are too big, as the case only fits half way.  So CS, you maybe right for the .303 British.

Maybe 7.62X38R?   (Nagant pistol round)

Got anything to take a chamber cast with?

Probably relevant:

Often chambered in 8x50 or .303 British.

Doubt it as it already swallows a 7.62x39.  Good read on the article, thanks.
