I've had a tough time deciding which gun I like/shoot better, the Sig 365X or the Sig 365XL.  Over the weekend a buddy of mine & myself shot both back to back.  Recoil has always felt the same.  We both observed the X recovered quicker between shots and was faster to shoot from 7 to 15 yards.  At 35 yards I was able to shoot the X on steel quicker and made more hits than with the XL.  Both have Wilson Combat grip modules and 407K Holosuns.  Has anyone else experienced the same?  I figured the Xl would shoot Better.

It probably fits your hand better.

This has been my same experience and also mirrors my experience with glock 19x vs 17

I can shoot my 26 better and faster than my 17 or 19.  I like my XL and don’t have an issue with it, but I don’t have an X or regular 365 to compare it to.

Less slide wight slamming back, so it does make some sense.

No. My observations have been the opposite I shoot my XL better than a friends X. Plus the recoil is stronger on the X.
I have a Wilson Combat grip on mine and my friend has the same. Accuracy has been better for me at all yardages.

I have 4- Sig P320's 3- custom compacts and 1- P320 Pro which is full sized, The P320 Pro full size shoots more accurate
than my P320 compacts and X compact. Plus recoil is not as great with the full size P320 Pro

In both cases above the differences are not massive but recoil is noticeable and there is a difference in accuracy.

I have shot the 365 next to an XL (and an XL Spectre Comp) quite a bit.

I always thought the XL was disproportionately softer shooting than the 365 for it's size (that is, it may be 12% bigger but shot 20% softer).

If you want the softest shooter, the XL-SC with +P+ 115gr is shockingly soft.

I'm actually trying out the P365-380 because I tend to shoot 380 a lot faster and more accurately than 9mm.

Try an XL with a PMM comp,
pretty impressive.

This is dichotomy between “flat” and “soft”. Assuming sufficiently similar pistols, shooting dots- not irons, the shorter slides can shoot flatter, with less moving mass in cycling stroke.

There’s a limit though, compare the Glock 34-17-19, or the various P320 slide lengths. The longer slides do tend to be “softer”- and different shooters will prefer different attributes.

I really like the shorter slides with comps, I feel like I get the best parts of both.
