@Trumpet The beavertail looks better anyway.

I really like how he high cut and serrated the frontstrap.

I took it apart last night (picture was taken in a hotel room on my drive back cross-country to retrieve it this weekend), and probably gave it the first cleaning it has had since the fifties.  The bore was nasty, but thankfully not pitted.  Not mirror bright, but the rifling looks fine.

Other than some staining under the grips, there was no corrosion.  My father said that he remembered being taken on the annual range trips by my grandfather, who "was issued two or three boxes of ammunition, and seldom shot more than one magazine from it.  I would then get to shoot the remainder of it at the range".  Other than some light holster wear at the front of the slide, and a less-than-pristine barrel, it looks nearly new.

My small contribution to this thread. Hope the pics show up! Sorry for being cell phone pics, and not wiping off the grease and fingerprints first.
Okay, here are most of the specs
I started with an 80% carbon steel lower
Carbon steel slide
Kart barrel & bushing
EGW slide stop, thumb safety & grip safety
EGW extended mag catch
EGW ejector
EGW firing pin stop
Ed Brown extractor
Ed Brown main spring housing/magwell
Cylinder & Slide ignition components
Wilson flat trigger
Wilson springs & firing pin
Heinie rear sight/Dawson front
Nighthawk plunger tube/plunger set
Raasco English walnut grips
Cylinder & Slide grip bushings/screws
Wilson 47D magazine
After all the fitting & finishing and a bunch of test firing
I finished everything off with a DIY hot salt blue job.

Fine lookin gun you got there. I miss when SACS was in full swing. The rumor mill says they're going to start offering more services again soon, but we'll all just waiting.

I was one of the last customers who's guns they did full services on. I got them right before they shut off. Just in time.

I'll get more 1911s just to send to them the minute they open.

I looked into a gold (not brass) bead, but reviews are very mixed. Some love them and some hate them.

Went for a run with my loaded and the finish of the left grip got screwed up. So I cleaned it with alcohol and refinished it. I should have stripped it or used a different finish. I need to fix it tomorrow. Until then.

It is. The flat trigger is pretty new and I've only been out a few times with it. So far so good. Aesthetically I still prefer the curved solid trigger.
