It’s not that long ago that these features would have cost you a pretty penny on a factory Hi-Power. The new Girsan/EAA MCP35 OPS is a pretty sweet package for $600. You get….

- beavertail (no more hammer bite) with a really high grip/hold

- fiber optic front with adjustable rear

- competition flat trigger (4.8 lbs)

- extended slide release lever

- flared/beveled magwell

- G10 grips

- light rail (which I don’t really care for but the added weight up front helps)

- no mag disconnect

- very nice undercut

Will see how she shoots in a few days. So far I’m impressed

Sort of want.  Loses the classic look but it does appear to be very functional.

It just hard to find an all steel single action only 9mm pistol that isn’t a 1911 these days.

I like that!

Mildly compelling.  This is more along the lines of what FN should have done with their HiPower re-release.  Perhaps that is the next line extension, pending consumer interest.  All that’s left is a Red Dot cut!

I have had custom Hi-powers by Don Williams and Cylinder & Slide and the beavertail option was crazy expensive. Having one factory is enough for me. I have never had a Hi-power not hammer bite me and I’ve tried multiple “no bite” hammers.

That’s the one from Girsan I’ve been wanting the most.  Hopefully availability will be good.

And I agree, this is the direction FN should have went.  Instead we got the 226-Power.

I stopped by a local gunshop this morning and they had a handful of Girsan BHP clones. Oddly there were two white cerakotes standard models, 1 MC P35 OPS for $699, and 1 MC P35 Match for $649. The lines of the Match appealed to me more than the OPS and liked that I could use holsters that are already in the collection.

First impressions are good. It feels great in the hand. Sights are usable(wish they were fixed instead of adjustable) The Garthwaite style trigger had a pin and hole for a magazine safety but, it isn't populated. The springs feel heavier than my 3 FN production BHPs. Safety feels slightly better than my stock MkIII but, not as notchy as my other with a C&S safety. They extened slide release is well done as is the mag well bevel.  The medallions on the grips are fugly and if not for those the grips fit and feel great. I swapped them out for some black VZ gunner's that were in my spares box. The pistol came with one blued 15rnd Mec-gar magazine.

Hoping to get it on the range this weekend and see how it shoots.

ETA- white schmutz in hammer recess was grease not flaked off cerakote in 2nd image

I like how that looks a whole lot! Have you tried it with Federal HST’s or Speer Gold Dot? If so, how’d it function?

I got mine locally. A few places that are now out of stock had them for like $550 online for the match version without the rail.

I'm not going to lie I kind of like the way that looks. I can't get around the beaver tail though. I've been shooting High powers for 40 years and I've never gotten hammer bite so I guess knock on wood I'm lucky. So the big beavertail just seems out of place for me. But I like the rest of it... it brings the Hi Power platform into 21st century.

Are the grip panels the same dimensions of the original BHP? In other words aftermarket grips would fit it?

I think everything is the same so grips and release should interchange. The release is like the one the BHSS has sold for years and works pretty well.
I like the beavertail as I always get bit. I have put the no bite hammers on my other HPs.
