For 500 I'd buy a Rock Island GI 1911 or maybe a Tisas. For me to spend 1,500 on a gun it would have to be around 150 years old and in good shooting condition. No way would I pay that much for a modern gun no matter who made it.

Quoted: We were having a discussion at work today about if you had $500.00 to spend on a firearm what would you get? This would be a want not a need type of gun, you already have edc, home defense and hunting covered. One of the guys said ammo which is alway a right answer but not what we were looking for. Any thoughts? View Quote Not a lot of quality at the $500 price point unless it is used. |

I'd send my CZ P07 slide off to Primary machine for optics milling and some other slide work.

With $500 I'd get a remington pump shotgun or a nice .22 rifle.

Well, I just dropped most of my stimmy allotment (the part that isn't going towards wife's medical debt) on a KKM barrel for my G20SF to shoot hard cast and a Coyote Tactical Solutions Burrito/med insert, so I guess that fulfills the intent of the question...

Beretta APX can still be had for $400. Canik TP9 series are $450ish.

Glock 43x or 48. They can still be had for under $500 or really close to it.

I'd be happy getting a Ruger Charger .22 4938 for $500. Right now, they are unobtanium.

I honestly don’t want any more guns and if I did $500 wouldn’t begin to cover what I’d be interested in.
My tastes run toward the $2500-3500 1911 market. |

Steyr A2 MF 9mm. I don't actually know how much they are, but for $500 I'd buy one.

I’ll echo the sentiment that $500 only gets you some mass-produced plastic fantastic if you’re looking at a “serious” caliber handgun.
But a “just for fun” might be a threaded Beretta .32 Tomcat. Mostly to use with a micro-9mm can. Just for fun. |

If I didn't have a Delta already I'd pick up the optics-ready Gen 2.
Attached File https://www.rainierarms.com/arex-defense-delta-m-gen-2-9mm-optic-ready-pistol-fde/?avad=9441_c22450b15 Or $10 more but with free shipping. https://dkfirearms.com/product/arex-delta-m-gen-2-9mm-optics-ready-pistol/ Of course that means I'm not in the same league with the high rollers here who have no interest in "cheap" guns. |

A very large majority of guns listed here are over $500.
The only two I’d buy right now in that range are an SAR K2 45, or a surplus Beretta Cheetah with money left to go towards some Stainless appearing Cerakote and nice wood grips. |

[#34]
I would still be looking for my favorite category older used smith and Wesson revolvers.
In that price range a nice basic model 10 can still be found, and I am on the hunt for a nice one ( I miss the days of old police trade ins for under $200.) Every once in a while you can still stumble into a deal. Hope springs eternal |

[#36]
Assuming you could find one in stock, I think the best pistol one could buy for $500 would be a CZ P-07
DA/SA and you can swap the controls from deckocker to safety and carry in SA if you want to. |

I'm seriously considering a Charter Arms Police Undercover. It's a 20oz, six shot, 2.5" 38 Special. I have a S&W 649 357 Magnum...but it's obnoxious and only holds five. I also have a 3" Model 66...but it's a heavy bitch. I like the idea of six rounds in a light package. I'm thinkin' it would make a decent hiking gun.

I'd probably track down another Blue Label Glock 19 or 17 and start saving to send it off to Jagerwerks for an optic cut.

Hit the used gun racks for .22LR pistols or rifles for plinking and training.

500.00? Sounds like a tax stamp for my next form 1 hush device. And a little left over for 5-6 rounds of .22 LR.

For $500 i'd get a used Glock 43x MOS
OR A used Ruger MKiv 22/45 Lite. |

Under $500. Look at Canik TP9 or SAR 9, both top quality and reasonable prices. If you think they are "Made in Turkey" junk then you are ignorant.

I recently picked up a Taurus 627 Tracker .357 6.5" stainless revolver. It was a little below $500 before tax/transfer and shipping. Ended up a little over $500 all in. I'm happy with it.
