If you could only have one USP which one would it be?

I've always wanted a USP, but I'm not about to start a collection..

What your "Forever" USP?

For a range toy, Expert 9mm w/ match weight - it's a bullseye machine
For a do-it-all shooter, .45 Tactical - runs everything from subsonic suppressed .45AARP through spicy .45Super for defense
For lustful purposes, Match 9mm

USP Tactical chambered in 45. The 9mm USPs are fine, but I really like the 45acp variety. And the tactical model can have a can mounted on it for even more fun.

I have both the 9c and 45f.  I would keep the 45f if forced to choose.

Well, I have had the 9C longer than my others and it’s broken in really well so probably that. But I will say my 45ct is a close second, just don’t carry it as much. Really can’t go wrong with any of them honestly.

That's a tough one OP.  I've had my usp9c the longest out of all my ups's.  That being said, it would be a tougher choice between my usp 9 tactical and usp 9 expert.  If you don't ever plan on getting a suppressor then id day get the expert.  Awesome handgun that takes everything you throw at it.

My only one is a full size 9mm.  Bought it used a year or two ago.  Not sure why I bought it exactly.  Nice pistol, kind of big.

I've had USP .45, USP-C 45, MARK 23, MARK 24 (aka HK 45c) VP9, P30, P30L. Now only 1 a USP .45 Expert, I love HK's.........

I was about to grab an expert until I learned the models with target sights can’t be cut for optics. So I guess the standard USP for my next buy.

Bought my first USP 45 in 1995.  I’ve had all sorts of HKs since then.  The USP45 in all of it’s forms is still “the” 45 to own.

45 compact. It’s the perfect size for a .45, slightly more compact than my Hk45c and I prefer the USP grip. I like the p30 for 9mm, p30sk to be exact.

I was friends with a gun store owner that had one of the largest shops in the midwest.  At one point he had over 5,000 guns ON THE FLOOR.  I was around when he would close six-figure deals with a briefcase of cash. Through him I met people like Jerry Miculek (and shot with hiim), and members of the Beretta family.  His store had RACKS of Cooper 57s with AA+ stocks and more on the floor for anyone to handle.  His wife complained about the number of personal guns he owned (their house was filled with them).  By the time he died, he had sold all of his personal guns except one.  It was his carry HK USP45 Compact.  I think that says a lot.

Well, if just for a collection piece, I'd get a full-size.  The regular full-size, Elite, Expert, or Tactical will all serve you well.

The USP compacts are awesome.  I like and own all 4 calibers.  I prefer the 9mm/40sw compact grip frame as it is slightly smaller than the 45.

For me, the full size USPs are bed side and range guns.  The USPc's still get carried from time to time making them more practical.

Like the others have already said, it depends on what it's use is. For overall, USP Compact in 9mm for myself.

I'm in the minority here, for full size, 40.
One of the smoothest shooting 40's IMO.
Haven't owned or shot any of the compacts, but after reading posts above
I might have to explorer that.

I prefer my 40c to the 9c or 45c.

I shot it in IDPA for years against other more competition-friendly guns.

I'm quite partial to my 9SD.     It's previous owner added the match trigger and Jet Funnel magwell.    I added the ambi safety/ decocker and like shooting it quite a bit.    It's a really nice suppressor host.

Definitely the full size USP. It's just if you prefer the 45 or the 9mm. I have both.

It is the best 45 on the market in my opinion -- I love mine.

I also have the LEM and the regular DA/SA. Both are good, depends on what you want. I only use the standard cocked&locked -- I never use the DA.

The USP40C with Lite LEM is one of the few guns I regret selling and I’ve been thru a lot of them.

There isn’t a caliber or variant of USP I would turn down, but I think 45ACP is where they really stand out.

Out of what's available. A USP9 full size. Just because I'm all consolidated on 9mm for my pistol cartridges (other than a decent stock of .357 for my revolver) and I never really liked the look of the square trigger guard that HK did on the Compact and newer models.

Now if I could fantasize a little. It would be a USP9SK. Same footprint as the P2000SK just with old-school USP lines. Slanted full-size trigger guard, gray molded frame (no Cerakote bullshit) and the USP-style slide stop modified to be ambi like on the P2000.

110% the full sized USP45

Find me a better made, more reliable, 13 round .45 fighting pistol that can be had for less than a grand.

Spoiler alert, you can’t.

The USP9 is oversized for what you get, and the USPC45 loses out feature-wise to the HK45C.

I have two, and I’d never sell them.

I would avoid the full sized USP series unless it had a Stainless Steel slide; some of the black slides were not properly heat treated.

Please cite the source of your information.  The carbon slide ("black") USP full size is widely regarded as the most durable handgun ever made.

I keep coming back to this thread because I want to change my answer, but I still think the USP45 Expert is "the one to rule them all".  However, I would feel exceedingly well armed with ANY model in any caliber.  In the 28 years I've owned them I have yet to have a single malfunction  or parts failure.  They are the quintessential "end of days" handgun.

#metoo.  My black 45f is over 20 years old and has ate over 10k rounds.  The only thing I have replaced is the original two 12rd mags.  Actually I retired them from service.  They still worked.

My uncle is still carrying the 1995 USP45 I bought in ‘95 right after they hit the market. I shudder to think of that gun’s round count.
