I guess I need to try a RDS pistol to be like the cool kids.  Give me a quality and budget friendly combo to play with.

PSA Dagger or Dagger slide for your Gen 3 G19

eta- I'm partial to RMRs but do have a Swampfox Justice I put on the Dagger Slide. So for around $400 I have a 9mm RDS slide I put on my Glock 23

You could buy a cheap taurus or something and put s halosun on it. But if like it the concept you'll probably want to upgrade to a RMR and better pistol.
You'll like it, everyone who shoots mine loves it especially new shooters. Easier and fun.

For $75 to $100 get your slide cut.

For $99 get a Riton from Bereli. Or $150 a Swampfox.

Or just build something from scratch.  While you can.

find someone to let you shoot. Come to where I am and you can run a 365xl with 507k and a glock 17 with 507C.

That's how I got into it. Put a few reps with some different guns and saw the advantage. I won't do it to everything I own but I will be carrying one more often than not...

PSA Dagger plus a Holosun 407

That was my gateway drug.

What pistols do you own already?

I bought Brownells slides for my G17 and G19 and Dawson sights to setup RDS pistols.  I initially got an RMR type 2 but back to back failures before ever hitting the range I switched to a 507c.

Lots of places seem to be blowing out M&P 2.0 w/optics cut and old hinge triggers. As a dot shooter with glocks and M&Ps I would say the grip angle on the M&P is WAY easier to learn on than the Glock. Most first time dot shooters have a bit of trouble finding the dot on my Glocks but not the M&Ps. This can obviously be fixed with training and dry fire but for the "dot curious" you will have a flatter training curve with a traditional grip angle.

I never bought in to the glock grip angle debate till I ran my first RMR on one. Its a real thing.

Don’t know what your budget is but I have a Walther PDP, Sig P365 XL and lately a Dagger set with RDS. Dagger being the least expensive but so far It’s been reliable and I shoot it well. If I had to choose just one I’d  keep the Sig  because it is the pistol I carry most IWB.

I would agree with the dagger and suggest trying the HiLux TD3 it’s got an RMR footprint, has good specs, and it ruggedly constructed

I would suggest the Canik optic ready pistol also.

Keep an eye out for the Holosun.  I was able to get a big button (pre-Trijicon lawsuit) version for under $300.  Than I found a Primary Arms ACSS reticle version for $250.  I think the value of the Holosun are great.  Yes they fail occasionally, but they are for the most part good to go.  I absolutely love the ACSS reticle with the big ring which is a huge help in getting the reticle centered, particularly when in a non-conventional stance.
