How do you like the quality of the new M1908?

Very happy with it! The first couple of mags had some issues; the extractor slot in the slide or the extractor itself wasn't really dehorned well so you could pull it/push it outwards and it would stick. After a couple of mags that subsided; now it articulates and comes back to it's correct at-rest position, so that seems fine. Since it's a bit of a PITA to knock out the extractor pin, I'm glad that worked itself out (you need a convex punch to punch out the pin without damaging anything...found that out the hard way on a 100 year old one that had been refinished already so not a HUGE loss with the tiny ding in it, but still )

It's a little poppier than the 32acp 1903s to be sure - when I had it out, I had some slick aftermarket grips on it that really didn't help things. I think I went through 50 rounds of Winchester ball and 7 rounds each of some Sig 100 grain, some Hornady FTX defensive ammo, and some light 70 grain Nov-X stuff that was really blasty, but very light recoiling. I put the original grips back on it, and next time I go out with it, I'll shoot it some more. I think it'll make a decent pocket gun.

Having said that...if you wanted a modern reincarnation...the S&W Equalizer is almost identical length and height wise; it's a bit wider and shoots 9mm, but the rest of the measurements are almost identical, right on down to the articulating from the bottom grip safety. I might pick up one of those, just because...
