How do the classic High Standard 9-shot revolvers fare in 2021?

I understand that the newest models are made in the mid 1970s. Are replacement parts still available? Are they a viable plinker?

I'd like a 4-6" model preferably under the JC Higgins brand.

I bought a 6" one for $150, was worried about parts availability, so I sold it off.

Owned two or three over the years.  Still have one.  Decent pistols. Parts are hit or miss but I’ve never needed any.

I have two. I don't particularly worry about parts, I don't use them all that much. I have a chromed 3" High Standard 922 and a 6" 922. The 3" is best at under 8'.

Good pistols. With luck find one with duel cylinders (.22 LR, .22mag). Just be careful about storage where corrosion or electrolysis can start on the frame, as most are a cast aluminum or other non-ferrous casting.

Had this one about 5 years. Still haven't found a replacement grip panel.

That said, it's a fine <$100 pistol for shooting pests and vermin around the property.

I think I paid $60 for it

I got a 9 shot 22LR for $40, looks like shit. I figure I'll use it until breaks. Its a great farm gun.

There’s a set of diamond grips on eBay for the sentinel. Looks to be the one piece type for the early model. $25.
