As the title says, I am looking to get a new carry gun. I currently aiwb carry a Glock 45/19 (have both frames) with an RMR.

Right now I am trying to decide between these choices:

1. HK P30 with LEM trigger

- Cheapest if I get one on the used market, but most expensive to mill if I decide I like it enough to slap an rmr on it. Only tried the lem trigger once and it seemed nice. Be a nice

plus to be able to ride that hammer while reholstering (although I have never had issues/fears with striker fired guns).

2. HK VP9 2020

- Had an sk a while back and it was great. Extra plus is that they now come with an optics cut and 17rd mags. Can be had online for around $670, so while more pricey upfront than

the p30, way more reasonable after you figure in the p30 milling cost (400-500). Excellent factory trigger.

3. Sig P320 X-Compact

- Grip is amazingly comfortable. Optic cut already, although you have to get an adapter for the rmr and apparently it makes the optic sit super high? Priced reasonably at about 600

new online. Not a huge fan of the trigger. I tried one out yesterday and it felt gritty, maybe that would work itself out after some rounds through it. Picking up a DPP would be an

option.

4. ???

Anyway, that is what is on my radar at the moment. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I am super indecisive when it comes to firearm purchase.

What's the Glocks not doing that the others will?

I vote for the VP9 now that it come pre+milled and 17 rnd mags. Best feeling grid and the out of the box trigger is very good, the sights have been upgraded as well. I also like the paddle style mag release.

Agree, retired my EDC for a P250 in .40SW

DAO (grew up on revolvers so no trigger issue);

Dead nuts accurate;

No FTF FTE for me to date;

Carry the SC with the 180 bonded FBI load.

From GLOCK pistols, I would transition to the VP9. Similar what you are used to, if that means anything.

I have no experience with the Sig other than the typical shop fondling.

I'm picking up a VP9 SK today to replace my 43x...Pure curiosity on my part, the Glock is a nice pistol.

But more HK is almost always a good thing

I just replaced a g27 with a p30sk lem. I got it here on our ee for $450 with 5 mags.  Like you said riding the hammer down on reholster is a great option. My first Hk was a vp9. It is very glockish in its trigger.

Of the options listed...VP9.

Otherwise, M&P9 2.0 Compact, Glock 19, CZ-P10C would get my votes. My EDC off-duty is the aforementioned M&P with an RMR.

people may do as they like but the riding of a hammer down or thumb behind a hammer from appendix draw I'm not a fan of.

grip the gun as designed, finger off the trigger (drawing or holstering - keep it simple) when tactical ten fingers starts talking proprietary it makes things more confusing

I have the VP9 it's a good gun, I like the 30

Try a HK P7-M13.  Spendy, but very reliable and accurate.

It’s not just your fingers that can set it off.

For a carry gun, I like something compact but can shoot like a full sized gun. I never thought I would get one but I went with the Sig P365. It has amazing ergonomics, it shoots like a larger gun, follow up shots are quick to keep on target and it is actually pleasant to shoot. The 365 XL is a little larger and can have a red dot added to it. I have tried numerous guns throughout the years from Glocks to HK to just about every other. I am impressed with the p365 and it is a keeper. Just my 2 cents.

Ima add the p365xl to the list of considerations. Especially since the new 507k came out.

Only thing holding me back from a P30 is the cost to put a red dot on it bc I know I will end up wanting to.

I like the p320 x compact, the grip is stupid comfortable to me. I just dislike the mounting system need for an rmr.

Vp9 is still high up there.

This is exactly what my EDC looks like (rear sight in front of the RMR), except with a TLR-1HL in lieu of an Inforce. 25Y zero with 124gr Gold Dot.

OP

For IWB carry I love my HK P30SK V1 LEM.  For appendix carry it should work well for you.

Now with the advent of 13 @ 15 round mags, I’m gtg.

I own a myriad of handguns. 23 to be exact.

Canik, Colt, Glock, HK, Sig etc.

I am leaning towards another VP9 (2020) for reasons you stated.

Point being. For carry look @ the P30SK or VP9SK if you prefer striker.

Pic of my carry setup.

This.  Unless you just want something new,  different, and  shinier.    You're certainly not going to get anything better than a G19.

P30 all the way.

Never care for glock, way over priced and far from perfection.

Myself, I like hammer fired with decocker. The XDE has served me will for 3 years and my p30s v3

When the m&p 2.0 hit, sold all my glocks.

Yep and that's the key point.  It's not just operator error.  I imagine it's pretty damn rare but it happens.  I like hammer fired guns and I always ride the hammer down into the holster.

Which SIG is this, P229?  I see the flat trigger. Is that a gray guns aftermarket?  I like the look of the grips/frame.
Curious on the exact model of this.

Pretty sure that is the p320 x-compact.

I will be going with the P30 in the near future.

Honestly go to a range that rents and shoot them.  That is an expensive experiment to find out you do not like X Y or Z over the Glock.

I, like you, primarily carry Glocks.
I bought a Sig P320 Compact on a whim one day at the gun store and liked the way it felt and pointed in my hands.
After owning it for a year I finally sold it. I personally didn't enjoy the recoil impulse due to what I believe was the bore axis compared to the Glocks I was used to.
My wife bought me a VP9 for my birthday and I honestly really like the gun. It's extremely comfortable to hold and shoot and doesn't have the perceived "flip" the Sig had.
My glocks all have Overwatch triggers & connectors in them so comparing them to the VP9 isn't really fair. but The VP9 has a better stock trigger than the stock Glock.
