(Wish i wrote "would carry for self defense" but thats what i meant by "would edc" above)

Feel free to include your vote/s and aftermarket parts in an additional post down below.

Examples could include accessories that
• manipulate the angle of magazine like a mag well
• a magazine spring/follower other than what came with the mag
• non oem barrel or slide
• aftermarket recoil spring, can or comp
• any optics and non-oem work affecting the weight of the slide (my unstripped 48 slide without barrel or recoil spring is 333 grams or 11.7 oz with FCD plate and can sights)
• maybe any ammo types that didn't play well

Round counts and product generations appreciated if known

Please vote out of first hand experience only, in effort to preserve the integrity of actual value these companies provide us as options

GD thread can be found here for your pleasure

PSA mags have given me no issues on my 43x. I carry with them.
I also had no issues with my gen 2 S15 mags.

S15 gen 1 and gen 2 has been 100% for me.  Retired LE instructor and armorer, so I don’t tolerate junk mags and shoot a fair amount.  43X with S15 mags is my EDC for the last several years.

This. S15’s will get ya killed from my experience. Unreliable garbage.

S15 here, gen 1 and 2 with thousands of rounds not a single mag issue. Using their metal mag release, does not like factory mags at all. Been very happy with it.

My findings so far.

I finally got around to testing my two s15 gen one mags.
I first tried 115 grain fmj. Lots of failures to feed on each mag.
Then I tried some 124 grain fmj. Ran those without failure.

Fast forward a few weeks and I purchased one PSA 15 rounder.
It was almost the opposite of the s15 mags.
The PSA ran the 115s just fine but didn’t like the 124s.
I will say the PSA did much better.

I will give the PSA another chance next week.
So far at this time I wouldn’t carry either of them.

Gun is a stock g48 with a shield arms mag release.

Own 4 PSA mags now.  I put several hundred rounds through the first two I got and I’m comfortable using them for carry now. Still vetting the last two I got but so far so good.

My G48 was giving me some issues with the standard Shield Arms mag catch. It was way too easy to press so I sometimes accidently pressed it while shooting. Switched to the premium Shield Arms mag catch and problem was fixed. Premium mag catch has a longer catch face making it so that there's more engagement with the magazine, most likely you won't need the premium version though. I just have a very tight grip on my handguns.

43x here.

Gen 2 S15 mags and S15 magazine catch.

No issues with about 5-600 rounds through it.

It is currently my edc.

48 with two gen2 S15s. Zero issues approx 1000rds random ball 115g and 124g for training. It's been my CCW for four years.

4 gen 1 shield mags have been 100% in two different 43x over the last three plus years.

I tried Shield Arms Gen 2 mags with their mag catch. I had lots of failure to feed with the 15rd and also with the extentions. After two trips back I got some that kinda worked, but I didn't trust them. Shield Arms was great about it and gave me a full refund. Based on just the customer service I will try them again. I do plan to try the PSA mags soon.

Right now I am using an OEM mag in the gun and an OEM with plus 4 as a reload. The plus 4 had some issues with the follower hanging up, but I smoothed the inside out and it is good to go now. I can't remember who made the plus 4.

I also have a Shield Arms mag well, Arc compensator, True Precision threaded barrel, and a Holosun 507K with Dawson blacked out sights. This all works great and I have not had any issues as long as I use the OEM mags.

ETA: 43X MOS

I have a little over 500 rounds now through my G43X MOS using the gen 3 S15 mags and their mag release. Not the first issues running HST or GD 147gr. I have also ran several hundred 125gr coated round nose bullets with no issues. Haven’t tried anything else because those are my main rounds I shoot in 9mm. I have no problems carrying with the S15 mags.

S15 metal mag release - PSA, S15, and S15 with Taran Tactical +5 base plate and springs.
All work fine in my G43X and are used for defensive carry.

It seems the aftermarkets, mainly SA are 50/50, I've always gone by the approach that a definite 10 is better than a maybe 15. My opinion anyhow but what do I know
Besides, way to many folks are letting mag capacity drive the train.

Since adding the PSA 15rd mags, I find my self carrying with a SA15 in the gun (OWB), plus 2 backup mags (carried in my front pocket) - a 20rd S15/TT and a 15rd PSA. I also like having a matching qty of mags for practice.

Here is my experience with a single psa microslick 15 round mag using aac 115 gr fmj . I put about 250-300 flawless rounds through it. Shortly after that I experienced a failure to feed, round sitting straight into the feed ramp, next mag same thing. Couple of days later me and my dad are shooting and get a failure to feed in the first mag. Switch over to factory mags, I have 5 of them, no issues. At this time I was letting the gun go without cleaning to see at what point I started getting consistent malfunctions, it was sitting somewhere a little over 2k rounds, let’s say 2250. As much as I hated to, I cleaned the feed ramp only. Shot the psa mag exclusively for around another 3-400 rounds and experienced another ftf. Put several glock mags through it with no issue. So my conclusion is that this one particular is not carry worthy and they may have issues feeding with even slightly dirty feed ramps.
