This is a question for anyone who knows people who would know.  Has anyone heard anything about the large frame Glocks in Gen 5?  I figure it will be about 6 months to a year (maybe announced at SHOT 2022) because the Gen 5 treatment isn't a huge departure from what they offer now... but then again, it took them a LONG time to introduce the G22/23... and when Gen 4 was making the rounds, it was about a year later that the 20/21 were released.

So, does anyone have a buddy who is in the Arms Room of a large department that issues G21s that has heard from their Glock LE Rep, a guy who knows a guy?  Hell, before the G44 came out, someone on here said that a friend told them that some Glock guys came in and bought a ton of .22LR ammo and that ended up being an indicator of what the G44 was going to be.

I really like my G21, and I want a Gen 5 version of it!!!  Thanks.

As poor as sales of larger calibers are I wouldn’t hold your breath.

They brought out the 22, 23 and 27, I think the 21 and 20 would sell more than those.

I’d be very surprised. Some years ago we heard that the 20 sold 15,000 units annually. That’s not many.

Rumor is that the 40 caliber Gen 5 only happened because law enforcement customers that wanted it signed the contract before Glock allocated development funds.

I REALLY hope so.  Yeah the 9mm is more popular these days but there are still a whole lot of .45acp Glock fans out there.  Mines still a gen 3 but I really need an SF sized frame.  I've looked at just about every option out there and it comes down to just getting a new one makes the most sense for this poor chick.

I’d be very surprised if Glock doesn’t eventually release gen 5 45 and 10mm models. I would definitely buy a 30S if they do, but if they don’t I won’t complain either since I’ve got no practical use for the gun and would never carry it, I’d just want one because I alway liked the 30S I had, just hated the finger grooves. If they don’t make them though they’ll be doing my bank account a favor by saving me at least a grand by time I buy extra mags, holsters, and Trijicon HD’s for a gun that would sit in my safe.

I imagine everything will have a Gen5. Gen4 is clearly on the way out.

When I was at my armorers course back in Jan, the Glock LE sales guy said it’s on the way but it’s gonna be awhile

I'm sure it will happen, when that will be who knows.  My .02, I have a few Gen5's and to be honest, there are some things I like better about the Gen5 but overall I prefer Gen4.  The finish on the Gen5 is a bit better (not sure about long term) and I do like the flared mag well but I like the finger grooves of the Gen4 better than no finger grooves because it feels more secure in my hand.

I see that law enforcement has moved away from .45ACP in many areas, but I think it would still be a strong seller in the civilian market

We still (unfortunaty) issue the Gen 4 G21. It's not a one-size-fits-all gun.

There have been leaks indicating a potential new Gen5 10mm. However it appears it would be a 4.5” barreled 10 round stagger stack. That actually could replace a G20, particularly if Shield Arms can make a 15 round magazine.

The MOS cut and finger grooves keep me from buying a G40 in the meantime.

The grip will still be the same length front to back. I don't think reducing the width will make that much difference. Not to mention it'll look silly with a fat slide.

Why presume that the slide will be fat?

The Gen 5 40's are fat. All the 10mm's have been fat.

They could be smaller, but heavy metal weights would be required.
