Which would you prefer and why? I like the larger grip, but I also am a fan of the Gen 5.

Anyone have any reasons not to get get the 19X?

Thanks!

Large hands need a large grip.

I went with the 19x over the 19 just because of the grip size.  Wanted a commander size/style 9mm.  Hell, it's only somewhat larger than my S&W Shield 9 but carries over 2x the capacity.

I guess the better question is why 19x, vs the G17 gen 5?

17 or 19. I don't really like the shorter barrel long grip concept. Half an inch of barrel/slide is the easiest thing to carry whereas the extra grip length is what really matters for printing under clothing.

Had both, 19x is the shit!! It’s a gen5 also technically, FO OP!

You can always get the G45

I have both the 19X and the 45.  I look at them both as just 19's with an extra two rounds without the need for aftermarket extensions or longer mag sticking out of the grip and not being flush.  There isn't really that much difference in size and weight and I have carried them concealed with proper attire and equipment (belt and holster) and carried no different for me than the actual 19/23 size.  Here are a couple good comparisons.

Gen 5 19 vs 19X

Gen 5 19 vs 45

** on the overlays move them where the triggers line up for a better size comparison**

If your hands are that big, then you’re probably a big guy.

If you can conceal a 19X, you’ll probably find that a 17 carries better because a longer slide gives more stability and better balance on the belt.

For big hands?

G45

Why?

G19x magwell sucks, G45 has forward slide serrations.

Having more than one 19 and 19X, AND a G45...  My vote is 17.

But if I were forced to choose between the two, it would be the 19X... But if the option was there, the G45.  I own 3 19Xs at the moment (I just kept finding deals on them), and still can't warm up to the tacticool baby shit brown color, or the fact that I can't use gen 5 mags without changing floorplates.

I have large hands.  I have G19.5, and G19x.

Get both.

I got several 19X  because I wanted the color.
After doing the black scheme my whole on duty and off I wanted to show some tacticool savvy when I color match holster, mags, etc....etc....
Other than the 19X not being compatible with Gen 5 mags, that's the only drawback, (always swap the baseplate to Vickers when I get new mags).
As said above, Love my G45 also for classic black dress for (formals).......

I was super psyched at the arrival of the G5 19 but that front cutout chewed the hell out of my little finger.  The 19X if you have big hands.

They ditched that cut out pretty quick. Only the earliest gen 5s, and the "M" series had it.  Thankfully.

I carry a 19MOS but prefer the 45MOS. I see no reason to get a 19x.

G45 over 19x for max magazine availability regardless of baseplate.

Prefer the 19x, but the gen 5s do have the breech face cut which I don’t believe has been incorporated in the 19x

I have two 45’s and just got a gen 5 MOS because we are going to transitioning to them at work. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. The 19 feels more locked into my hand, but I still shoot the 45’s more.

my .02

- G45 MOS (CHPW plate) for duty/ battle belt/ Safariland holster/ mag extensions and an X300

- G19 MOS (CHPW plate) for appendix carry/ APLc

See no reason for 19x unless you're stuck on iron sights still.

G45/ 19x slide is quicker impulse than 17 & 34. Also cool to have same impulse/ parts on both pistols for consistency.

@ban-hater
Nope. Gone.  I bought a 17, 19, and 45 just as soon as I found out it was gone.

My 2020 purchases.  Notice the non-finger grooved Glocks. All gen 5, no notch.

I've usually hated Glocks, but I love my G45.  Might get a 19.5.
