I ordered one early on and as soon as I got it I ordered another one. Was not disappointed with either of them. The WW2 reissue was disappointing because Colt didn't really try very hard with it, they did much better with the WW1. Of course the WW2's are more of a PITA to find now then the WW1's are [carbonia] so go figure.

A beautiful pistol deserves beautiful grips!

Now I just need the pistol to arrive. Only 3 more months-1 month ahead of you OP.

I won’t be in a hurry. It will be worth the wait. And there is one other good option available to me.

I've got a set of those on one of my Alchemys.  Wood Caliber is fantastic, the checkering is the sharpest I've found which I really like.

Yeah I think the smooth polished ones are the nicest looking and show the best figure, but I like my grips to be grippy so I prefer full checkering.

Yours are incredible.

Those are such great looking pistols.

I’m very pleased with them. The fit and finish is immaculate, slide to frame fit feels like one piece of steel and the trigger and safety feel are better than anything else I’ve tried.

I just got a new set of grips for the compact and although there is no way to reasonably justify it, I’d love to have another Wilson, custom finished in polished chrome or bright nickel.

Welp, I did it yesterday. I ordered my very own Alchemy Custom Weaponry Prime Elite government 5” 45 ACP 1911. It is pretty much their standard model with the addition of the figured walnut smooth grips. I have plenty of chrome and two toned 1911s, so I really wanted a very traditional looking blued 1911. Now the four to six month wait begins. This is what I hope it will look like:

Congrats!

I think it will be on the shorter end of the lead time estimate. I ordered on 12 August and got an estimate of 29 December; Friday I received notification that my Prime is entering production with an updated estimate of 3 December for completion.

Then again, they announced their railed commander and 4.25" 2011 a few days after I ordered, so I may have got mine in right before they were inundated.

Did you add any options at all other than the grips?

I did not add any other options. I went with the gold front sight which seems to be standard.

If the alligator butthole holster was under $100 I would buy it and OC with it.

But for that price I'll buy one of the Andrews Witness protector rigs so I can CC my shotgun with it.

Even a Tisas or MIM packed Springfield will be a decent shooter this day and age.

But 10 years down the road, would you not long for more? Would it have as much sentimental value as an heirloom? Would you still long for that beautiful custom in the back of your mind?

Sometimes you just need to scratch the itch harder to keep it from coming back.

Learned to shoot on a 1911 about 30 years ago and I’ll always own them though I carry Glock on and off duty

I own several production guns customized by gunsmiths suck as the late Karl Sokol, Ray Saltzman and Nighthawk Custom.

I’ve also had semi-custom guns built by both Wilson and Nighthawk.

To me a full custom gun would be a step height like a build by Burton at Heirloom or Chambers Custom which would be a Powerball purchase

Your Valor is a solid gun and though I haven’t owned one I’d guess on line with my Springfield TRP before it was worked over.

I can say with confidence the if you got into a 5” Wilson CQB or Nighthawk (Warhawk pictured below) you would see the different in esthetics and accuracy

Pride of ownership is also a thing to consider… but it is just a tool. No matter what ammo and training is FAR more important

This is an ugly one but built by Jim Clark Sr back in the ''old school'' days.

So slick it's scary though.

Received an email this morning that my ACW Prime has passed final inspection and is ready to ship! Hope to have it next week.

Needless to say, I'm impressed with the lead time.
Order placed 11 Aug
Entered production 8 Sep
Ready to ship 17 Oct

So just over 2 months.

ETA: ended up refusing transfer at the FFL. MTF...

I need/want a set of grips just like that. I've been checking out the Wood Cals site but their selection (at least currently) is limited but I guess I could do their custom order option?
