A year ago (or longer) I tossed around the idea of machining some USGI-style grips from G10 material. Before I go recreating the wheel, does anyone have or know where I may be able to find a detailed drawing of WWII USGI 1911 grips?

Complete blueprints, including grips are in the Jerry Kuhnhausen Shop Manual Volume Two on the Colt .45 autos...........

https://www.brownells.com/gear/books-videos/books/us-m1911-and-m1911a-shop-manual--volume-ii/

Also from Midway and most book sellers.

Cool.  I have wanted exactly that for a long time.  The closest I have ever seen were the VZ Tactical Diamonds which they discontinued.

Ditto!  Can't believe no one makes them!

Found another source. Looking to advance this project but there's only so much time in the day. If there is legitimately a lot of interest that will help me focus my efforts

I would be in for at least one set in dark brown or black.

Do you think you would be able to machine the raised rings around the grip screws?

I'd like to keep them as close to original drawings as possible and retain the ring. I'll have to figure out what tool to use to cut checkering very close to the raised flats without contacting them. Not a professional here, just a hobbyist trying to see what's possible

Cool.  Me either, so I wasn't sure how difficult that would be.

If LOK can do a raised cobra, I'm sure it's possible.  I wonder if they would do a custom group buy?
