My dad’s golfing buddy has an old 7.65 Kurz Walther PP that is French made. I googled it, and it may have been made in the 1950s from the limited info I have (I asked them for pics).

Anyhow, who would you recommend for a gun smith to inspect it, install new springs, check over the gun? etc. I’ve heard M&M in Alabama is a good choice for old PPK’s and PP’s.

Probably made by Manurhin in France. No suggestions for a 'smith, sorry.

I bought one with my C&R about 15 years ago.

Yep that’s it. Supposedly it was passed on by his father to him.

Shoot it before you go throwing springs at it.  This isn't a 1911 that eats springs like popcorn.  I have an original 1937 PP that is still running perfectly on it's original springs, and it's original mag still runs perfectly as well.  The 7.65 PP series are not hard on springs.  Also, the new manufacture Mec-Gar magazines are excellent and price effective.

M&M is the most experienced Walther PP series smith around should you need work.

The Manurhin made PP series pistols are second only the the pre WW2 Zella-Mehlis made Walthers in terms of quality and fit and finish.

Dirty little secret, Manurhin made Walther's pistols until the 1980s.  Well, the majority if them.

In the mid-80s Manurhin and Walther got into a bit of a war over import rights and Manurhin left the market in December of 1985.

Much more to the story, above is a huge oversimplification.

I've got a Manurhin PPKs, in .380, one of my favorite pistols.

OP try Earl's for repair work: http://www.carlwalther.com/
