How many mags before the glass needs cleaned?

I’m tempted to buy one and do the RMR, but wiping the glass every mag or 2 seems pointless

I feel like this is mostly if one shoots wet or dry. I shoot my Osprey dry, and it doesn’t really accumulate anything on my FNXs window.

I shot 300 rds this last go around with no problems (suppressed and un).  You can still see thru the RMR.  Wet, might have more splash back.

@M4-AR

Some cans will have more blowback then others.  I shot an Octane 45 recently and that had a lot of blowback.  Same for the Odessa.  You'll have to check the silencer forums for more info on can selection and host.

Absolutely no offense meant : But you have to much time on your hands : I've been using red dots on handguns for over 20 years : I've honestly never even given cleaning the lens a 2nd thought: You are  more likely to get chips on the housing and maybe scratches on teh lens then you are carbon from smoke:  In fact it's highly likely the RDS will get beat up looking eventually : When you clean the gun is plenty soon enough to wipe the sight off as well.

Do you shoot pistols suppressed?

Yep, that makes all the difference, espeically is you shoot the can with a wetting liquid.

To answer your question my FN with RMR, and either an Osprey or TiRant, is pretty dirty after a 50 round range visit.  But not enough for me to bother cleaning off during the session, so it's not that bad, and doesn't affect your shooting.

Buy, and blast away.

Thanks, that’s what I’m after.

Honestly I sold my rmr dual illuminated because it was almost unusable after 40 or so rounds suppressed.  I was using and octane45 and have since received my ghost so I’m sure I’ll have less back pressure so maybe not as much an issue.  I’m sure the green dot was also much more difficult vs a red dot.  Only my observations but I didn’t like it shooting suppressed.

Picked it today.

Stole the RMR off my mp5 to test before I buy another.

Range day tomorrow

Looks awesome. I’ve shot the FNX non tactical 45. Very soft for a 45. I’m sure you’ll love it.

Ran 200 through it suppressed and un

Had a few feed issues in the first 100, but ran well after.

I feel like every FN pistol I’ve ever shot needed a break in period but after that they were well worth it

I have 4 or 5 thousand through mine. No hiccups after the first 100. Very dirty suppressed but that’s the nature of the beast. Wipe the front lens with a t shirt every few hundred rounds. And I really like the talon grips.

Update.

I need to pick an RMR.

Currently I’m using a rmr06 off another gun and I need to put it back on.

So, what would be better, the 06 or 07

And then color: FDE or CB? (I like that the CB is anodized vs cerakote.)

Another have the CB on their tac?

My FDE tactical is at my dealer waiting to be picked up and the coyote brown rmr is on the way. I’ll have pics in about a week.
