Which magazine loader is everyone using? The 24 rounders suck to load. Also does anyone have a CCW holster that works with the tall sights? I have a leather IWB holster for a regular 509 but it doesn't work with the tall sights on the Tactical.

I've had my 509 Tac for a few weeks now, and I think it's a keeper. The trigger has smoothed out over the course of 2 sessions and 300 rounds. While I usually don't like hinged triggers (looking @ you M&P) the 509 trigger doesn't bother me. I'm not terribly fond of the front/backstrap pattern, and I'm considering sending it out to someone for a stipple job.

With that said, I've yet to take full advantage of all the features, so I can't comment on how it suppresses, at least until my Ghost-M gets approved sometime next year.

It is definitely a keeper and one of the finest striker fired pistols I've had the pleasure of owning. I have about 500 rounds through mine and the trigger is smoothing out nicely and the magazines are also breaking in making them easier to load to full capacity.

So far I've ran 5 different loads through mine with zero malfunctions, of those 100 rounds each 147 gr. ball, 147 gr. flat nose and 50 rounds 147 gr. JHP suppressed. Another 100 rounds 124 gr. WWB ball, 100 rounds 115 gr. Fiocchi ball and 50 rounds of some low power 115 gr. ball that I have sitting around.

Just waiting for a couple holsters, a few more magazines, more ammunition, more range time and I think this is going to be my new EDC of choice.

Just picked my 509 Tactical up today, and finally had a chance to look it over. Nice gun. But I do have one question. How many rounds does FNC test fire them with? Mine appears to have a good amount thru it. Lots of red primer sealant on the breach face, and a bit more wear on the bottom of the slide than I would expect a brand new gun having. Not to mention it smells like Ballistol or some other weird cleaner.

Woah! So glad I found this thread.

I’ve been looking at full-size primary/shtf pistols and I’m not sure how I’ve missed this one. Looks perfect for what I need. Awesome 25 rd reloads.. Wish more companies would provide high cap mags for reloads.

Off to do more reasearch but this looks promising!!

Got an email from Sportsman’s and bought within 10 mins of receiving and paid for overnight shipping and bam, in my greasy palms! Haven’t seen any others since. I’m sure there’s more in the pipeline.

FN did the same thing with the FNX 45 Tactical.

FDE was released first I believe, then followed by black.

The 509, hopefully, will follow suit and it looks like that may be the case.

Maybe it’s gonna be a Shot Show Release? I can’t find it anywhere

Owners and users - how’s it functioning? How many rounds through it?

I noticed more than one reviewer was hitting 3-4” high at 25 yds. Groupings were good but still shot high. The reviewers weren’t complaining and said if shot great.

Apparently only Sportsmans Warehouse released the black Tactical with the Vortex Venom RDS and they were sold out in minutes. Not sure when they are expected to be fully released but they aren't be found anywhere at the moment.

Mine shoots great, I only have 800 rounds through it at the moment, but it is easily the best striker fired hand gun I have ever owned. The trigger is kind of meh, but it is slowly getting better with use and I don't care for flat triggers so the Apex is out for me. I like this gun so much that I am considering running three of them, one for my CCW, one for night stand duty, and another for the training classes and ranch/farm carry (yea I know one can pull duty for all of those but where's the fun in that lol).

By mistake? As in they are sitting on them and weren't supposed to be released until after SHOT kind of thing? I heard the black one will be called the 509 MRD.
