actually work? My wife has my old P3AT (old style extractor) and it never misses a beat (knock wood). How are the new ones these days? What are the chances that it will work out of the box? Odds of having to send it to the factory to have it finished (to function properly)? Does attaching a CT Laser Guard have a negative impact on their reliability?

Don't waste your time, just get an LCP instead.

Mine works great without any problems. The only change I made was adding the finger extension to the magazine/base.

I've owned two different gen 2 p3ats, both worked just fine for me.

I have an LCP with a laser.
I am carrying a P3AT with a laser right now.

I bought two just three months ago, both have the same problem-light firing pin strikes a least once per magazine.  No matter what ammo brand is used.  I HATE having to send guns in for repair but it looks like both mine are gonna go abck.

I have a newish P3AT that's been 100% with just over 400 rounds through it. Got the hard-chromed version if that means anything. It's not pretty by any means and it doesn't have a fancy slide stop like the LCP but it just freakin' works. Besides, when it runs out of ammo, I chuckin' it and haulin' ass. I'm 100% sure that it will spit out 7-90 grain Hornady FTX's when I need it to.

I've had a P3AT since 2005. Not a single hiccup. I've used various ammo, neglected cleaning for 3-4 months, runs like a champ. Even full of pocket lint. I also own a PLR16. I guess I'm a lucky one and got Kel Tec's quality control on a good day.Other than my revolvers, my keltecs are the only guns in my collection to NEVER have a problem. That says a lot when running beside  my Glocks, Smith's and Springfields.

Mine works great. Never had a problem with any ammo. I put through it.

My G2 has been flawless as well. It's not as "fun" to shoot as my LCP (I'm not sure why the LCP seems more comfortable, but it is for me), but I can't knock it. It's never failed me, and does what it's meant for (ultra compact, 380). I'd not hesitate to buy another, but I DO wish Kel Tec would stop using polymer mag catches, and stop using a separate ejector piece (which gets lost EASILY if your not careful when cleaning). I know I'm probably the oddball, but I actually like the trigger in the 3AT better than my "post 13" LCP. My favorite carry method for it is a Fist K5 pocket holster (kydex hoster with thumb push withdraw) in right front pocket. It literally disappears and I can wear it anywhere that way (which makes it my most carried gun).

I have (actually had...my daughter carries it now) a gen 2.  Probably run over 500 rounds through it...not one issue to date. It even ran some defective ammo that kaboomed a SW Bodyguard.

My Mrs. carries a brand new one.  150 rounds so far without an issue.

I switched to an LCP just so I could have a stainless slide, but my P3AT ran flawless with anything I tried in it.

LCP's are now 199.99 in some places, cheaper than the P3At, so that's worth considering.  I would buy one if they came in .32.......

My Mrs. got hers a few months ago.  Has about 100 down the pipe so far without issue.
