Just ordered one for $1500 shipped.  Will post my thoughts on it when it arrives.

Been out of the 1911 game for way too long.  God I miss my old 45's but I just had to say goodbye when I was consolidating on a single caliber for semiauto pistols.  Hopefully this goes some way to healing that wound

Great Pistol/ Follow DW breakin recommendations. Get some good oil like FP-10 shooters choice

Are DW's sensitive to oils?  The model I bought is the Black Specialist.

I'm seriously thinking about a Valor 9mm.   I've never had much luck with a 9mm 1911, but they are super fun to shoot.

Yes you need to use the right oil on duty treatment and don’t use solvent to clean the finish only use Kroil or WD40. You can use bore solvent in the barrel just not the finished areas. FP-10 is the recommended Lubricant. I use Gunfighter gun oil it’s also safe and a better oil IMO.

What happens if you use solvent on the finish?

It discolors the finish. I just use FP-10 and don’t worry about it.

Interesting.  I think I have some gunfighter oil around here somewhere, though I almost never use oil for anything anymore.  Guess its a good time to start again.

If I can't find it, Ill try some FP-10.  Thanks for the info, guys

Well she's finally here.  And she's not black like I was expecting!    Thats my fault.  I assumed Matte was code for dull black.  My unedumicated dumbass even had to google it.

So, I guess I'm' not as worried about the Duty coat discoloring anymore.

Will post more pics in a few days once I've got a nice holster for it.

Keep it well lubed and follow the break in procedure as Dan Wesson explains it. Their pistols are tight, and stainless in particular can lock up from galling if it is not run very wet during break in.

Using a solvent turns the finish to a matted/dull black rather than the regular satin/semi-gloss. And unfortunately there isn't a good way to get it back to the original sheen.  If you do gets solvents on it on accident, I recommend going ahead and using an aggressive degreaser like brownells TCE on all of the duty treated components and then reoiling. That way everything matches again, you will just have a more matted finished than it originally came with.

Holster's Done!!!!

Now just waiting on these grips and these screws to finish this thing off.

I'm no artist but I assumed that the black cherry would contrast nicely with the kryptek pattern of the holster.  We'll see if I was right

Got lucky that I was on the fence about the grips.  This morning VZ had a 20% off sale for everything at their site.  That was nice
