Latetly, I've been eating a sandwich in the car on the way to my shooting club, or sometimes the local indoor range, to rip through hundred rounds, usually 2 or 3 times a week. They are both 5 minutes away from work. With ammo prices being so low now, it's hard to fight the urge.
I recently bought this used SA 1911A1 Mil-Spec SS from my LGS. I bobbed the hammer, contoured the grip safety and replaced the arched MSH with a flat checked version. I've put 500 rounds through it in 5 range trips. It's my current fascination gun. I want to shoot it all of the time. I really liked the plastic GI style grips that were included in the box better than the stock wood pair. They seem to be right in between full thickness and typical slim grips. I'd love to know if they are the same thickness as brown plastic GI 1911A1 grips. I guess I'll order a pair and find out.
It is SO comfortable to shoot after the hammer bob and GS reshaping.
The MSH is a factory Springfield. Ordered it with a stock mainspring, cap, retainer and pin assembled.
