I just picked one up this year, 2023. I’d definitely buy another. Hopefully next year.

![]() ![]() Went rack. 1943 Colt frame Ithaca slide. Couple of dings but no complaints from me. Put 150 rds through it with zero issues. |
|
|
I'm hoping I slid into the end of round 3 last week. I think that would put me out until next year for a second.

Sweet!
Just sent my packet in for #2. Went rack grade last time, not sure if I want to do the same this time or not. |
|

I'll probably get another. Got in on the first round, service grade.
|
|
|
Sent mine in too

I got to get on this….

Paperwork went out yesterday. I passed on the first 3 rounds but decided to go ahead and hit this one.

I sent mine in. Got a nice field grade Remington Rand last time. I’m wanting a range grade this time if they’re available.

I sent in a packet yesterday for my 2nd. Service grade on round 3. Round4 rack or range.

I'm in as well. I took a gamble on a Field Grade and got an overly pitted and parked over turd. Definitely going for a SG this time.

Have we seen anyone comparing the various grades from each round?
There were some rack grades I remember from the first round that looked better than service grades in the third. CMP's grading seems mercurial. |

I'm curious when CMP will start issuing RGNs for Round 4. They just shut down Round 3 entries at the end of August, and were up in the 41K number range for RGNs IIRC, not including those last-minute applicants.
I just sent in a packet today for another M1911. Now the wait begins. Last time (Round 2), I got my RGN about 6 weeks after submitting my application. My RGN was called almost exactly one year later. However, I think Round 3 went much faster, so hopefully Round 4 will as well. It will be interesting to see what percentage of Round 4 is repeat buyers vs new ones, but CMP will probably keep that to themselves. JMHO. |

If I were them, I think I'd cut off Round 4 for repeat purchasers at the end of September, and then go in the original RGN order.
I can't say I *hope* they do that, as a 2022 Round 3 purchaser, but that's how I'd do it. |

It may be, but IIRC Round 3 was originally scheduled for 1 month only, and was then extended. The interesting thing this time is that we now have first time buyers overlapping with second time buyers. Effectively, Round 3 went on for a year, and as far as first time buyers are concerned, Round 4 right now is just a continuation of Round 3. I'm curious to see if they cut all orders off at the end of September; cut off only 2nd time buyer orders, but keep accepting first time buyers; or allow both first and second time buyers to keep sending in orders the way they extended Round 3. |

Round 4 has been extended to October 31. |

42073 for me
Assuming no major delays probably get a call around FEB/MAR timeframe I'd assume. If it happens sooner cool but I'm not gonna get my hopes up for any sooner than end of 1st QTR FY 24 I still think the "random generated number" thing is BS. Based one what I've seen across 3 rounds of 1911s it's first in first out. Lowest Round 4 RGN is 415XX Highest posted Round 3 RGN I saw was 404XX So Round 4 started somewhere between those. |

He sent his in so late he had to drive down to the 24-hour post office at the Tampa airport to get in under the post-mark cut-off. I sent mine in on day one. His RGN was 1118, mine was 2764. |

Have hope, I had a low round 3 RGN. I got my 1911 before thanksgiving. I was also expecting a long wait, but was surprised.

I was ready to send my 2nd packet but the water tank blew up.
Then the daughter unit needed school supplies. Oh well, if they open the 4th round and continue it again, I will gather funds up. My 2nd round was a 1940 Colt/ on RR slide. Sure wish to still find a Colt slide for 1940 period, it would be nice. |

View Quote You saw the extension? You earliest you'd have to pony up would be end of November, or you could have until the middle of next year depending on your RGN. If you're short when you get the call all you have to do is pass...get that packet in! Due to technical issues with our system, we have discovered that some emails announcing Round 4 and website postings, did not go out as they should have. Therefore in order to allow everyone that would like to submit a 1911 order packet, we have extended the deadline by 30 days, order packets must be postmarked by 31 OCT. 2023. |
