So I have this Liberty Cosmic, and had no .45 pistol to use it with. I thought about getting a factory threaded barrel and some tall sights for the USP-40 as a reasonable substitute. But by the time I source a factory barrel, I’m a good bit of the way to the cost of another gun.
So then it was a toss-up between a USP-45 or an FNX-45. In the end, capacity and a slide already set up for an optic steered me toward the FNX.
I had to wait for a booster piston with the appropriate thread pitch to arrive. I finally got to go shoot the FNX yesterday. I was pretty impressed at how it sounded. The Cosmic is still a little uncomfortable to shoot .45 through an Uzi. Maybe it’s because the handgun is held out a bit farther from ones face, but it was not at all uncomfortable to use without ear plugs. Same ammo as with the Uzi. Go figure.
Everyone talks about how big this thing is, but it’s really still in the same size class as other full-size duty pistols. It seems similar to the Beretta 92, which I’m coming to like as a 9mm suppressor host.
As far as other suppressor hosts, the FNX still doesn’t seem all that big. At least not when held next to one of my other suppressor hosts.
