Ordered the Colt Competition (9mm) in stainless steel. It's at the LGS waiting to be picked up.

I’ve got a shot at a blued Competition series 70 model in 9mm. It’s used and a 2019 model so it only comes with 1 mag. Everything else in the box. $695 at my LGS. I can’t tell if it’s even been fired. Looks brand new and covered in oil
Worth it? Going back tomorrow to tell him if I’m taking it or not. |

Damn, congrats! Those are definitely shooters. We're still figuring out what it likes best. Another round of 5 different ammo tomorrow.
If you or anyone else get wind of this specific model for sale, please let me know. |

My only 1911 is a plain 80 series in stainless. I honestly don’t understand the hate towards 80series. Trigger feels very good to me.

My hatred towards Series 80 doesn't stem from Colt guns, but rather Kimber Series II guns.
The first 1911 I bought was Series II (I was so new at 1911 didn't even realize what firing pin safety was) and I rammed that slide trying to put it back together with grip safety engaged , which means the firing pin plunger was sticking out in the back and left a nasty scratch on the slide. Yes I'm an idiot and I should have RYFM (read your fucking manual) but after that I'm very sore towards anything with firing pin safety. The only non-Series 70 1911 I will ever buy is maybe a M45A1, but nothing else. |

Picked it up and shot it this morning. Sweet shooter. Everyone wanted to finger-f it. lol. Put 150 rounds through it with nary a hitch. Except it apparently doesn't like the plastic coating on the Synthecs. A few FTF. This is definitely a keeper. Quality is very good. Stocking up on WWB. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/15341/shelly-colt-1058147.jpg View Quote For some reason Colt doesn't put the grips with Colt logo on the SS Titanium versions |

Pulled and checked extractor tension. The extractor tip looked fugly. Did not look right. I ordered a 10 and 12 lb recoil spring and new guide from Wilson, and also a new extractor. Tried the 12 lb spring first to see if it’s just over sprung, didn’t help. Replaced the extractor and now it runs like a top...!! Reloads, HST, and Win. |

I buy used when I can. Picked up a newer version S70 Gold Cup Trophy (with the FO sights, magwell , blue grips and front strap checkering) - granted it had an idiot scratch from the previous owner - for $995 before shipping. Also got an ionbond M45A1 for $1000 shipped.
While it's true Colts hold their value (to some extent) better than other brands, 1911's in general are struggling on resale value since there are so many now. I was eyeing the stainless competition models , but didn't want to spend over $800 on them. |

I just picked up a 1911 Classic and I must omit I am impressed. Nice tight slide to frame fit and a nicely fitted Colt NM barrel.

My son is looking for a full size in 45 and has a budget of 1200 or so. He is looking for a new gun. I have a couple of 1911's, but they are off brands and at least 15 years old, so I am here seeking wise words. He is not looking for a competition gun. He is an average shooter, not high speed or fancy. Thanks for your ideas. View Quote |
