I've not seen a case of a failing red dot in a long time. Back in the 90's I saw red dots fail on Open Class race guns, like .38 Supers and .40's in major class.
A modern red dot on a conventional pistol, I'd have no worries. Get something with a no BS lifetime warranty and call it a day. |

It might be true if it is a Chinese clone, or airsoft quality.
