I bought the conversion kit for one of my full size steel frame Kimbers. I could never get it to run well enough to rely on it. I'm not sure of the part
but at rear of the slide there is a small squarish piece of metal that would "twist" due to the severity of the recoil. I tried different spring weights and eventually just put it up in the safe. I really enjoyed shooting it AFTER the first 200 rounds or so. First time I pulled the trigger I wondered if I'd lost my mind.

I would have the gun looked at because something is not right. I would be willing to bet that if you sent it off to Thomas (Scriminger at 460 Rowland) he could figure it out...
With that said...
The videos are misleading as hell. Example: The one video where the guy is shooting full power 460 Rowland rounds and then switches to a firing a few mags worth of (what they lead you to believe is) regular old 230grain 45ACP pressure ammo and the gun runs just fine. Yeah right...
I tried my darndest to cue this video up at the 2:00 min mark:

In that video he fires the regular 45ACP round at the water bottle.
Watch real closely as he slips
that pistol into his belt and draws his 460 Rowland built pistol that looks just like it from his holster to shoot at the next water bottle:

Those guns are tuned WAY differently my friend. That is why you do not see him simply swap magazines for that 'demonstration' and leave all other things unchanged...
By 'tuned' - I am not just referring to the recoil spring. Not at all uncommon for guys to change their firing pin stops, and their hammer spring weights along with changing the weight of the recoil spring for the particular loads being fired. Magazine spring weight may need to increase as well depending on the slide velocity.
I would bet that in that video Johnnie has his 460 Rowland tuned to where regular 45ACP will not even think about moving the slide. Forget about it moving the slide far enough to lock back open on an empty magazine. That is why he swapped guns...
