Kim Ahrends is out of business. His wife recently died after a long battle with cancer, and he had to let the bank take the business. He has trickled out a few grips, and I snagged one of the last of his square K-frame Retro Combats made with Walnut he saved for a special occasion. These grips have always fit me perfectly. I had a set that I bought from Brownells a few years ago, and foolishly sold to fund something else. These are now permanent fixtures on this 1976 19-3.

They did make a high quality grip for a very good price. It is a shame that life deals such hands to good people. My condolences to him and his family.

Got two guns wearing them now, and two sets waiting for some Smith’s to come home to them.

Sad to hear, wondered why a Ebay vendor that
sold his grips was running low in stock for K Frames.
I thought I heard the guy from Herretts retired too.
Cordia Retro Targets on my new production 586.

Damn that is a shame. Sad to hear about his wife and that he had to go through that with the bank. He and Mr. Spegel were the best. I have lost count of how many Ahrends grips I have bought over the years.

Keep checking ebay. The price is up to $200 but they're worth it. Im glad I spent half that on my two. I can shpot full house magnums all day with them. Only other grips that allows that are pachs.

That’s sad.  Too bad the bank wouldn’t work with him.  Without his craftsmanship, how much is the business worth?

I managed to find another set (Cordia K frame SQ Butt) on eBay, mismarked as they didn't use the Ahrends name. They will probably go on my 1953 K-38 so I can box up the originals.

I don't wander into this part of the form often, but I did hear about the Ahrends business closing down. Super high quality stuff and very sad to hear it ending. I'll grab a pic of my set later. Absolutely love them.
