Asinine topic to start a thread over, but, I just realized I’ve been doing this all wrong for 10 years. I use a Graith Specialist, now called a Mastermind Tactics Specialist, belt. Pretty much the Blue Alpha Lo-Pro. I also use JMCK Wing Claw holsters carried at 12:30-1:00.

I had to sand down the claws in the new holsters that just got delivered because they were torquing the grips in too much and kicking the slide and rear sight out. I’ve been fine tuning it day by day and the printing has been decreasing more each time. I’m right handed and Ive been threading my belt counterclockwise my whole life, never realizing until just now that it’s placing my holster right over the 1-2” unsupported flimsy section of my belt. I switched directions and holy shit what a difference this makes. Feels weird AF but so much more stable and printing has disappeared.

Anyone change the way they thread their belt or place their buckle to accommodate their holster or other carry/edc shit?

A man's belt threads to the left, with the leftover bit also on the left. Buckle "tip" is even with zipper flap.

Gig line.

And the extra goes to the left.  As you look down at your belt.

Jesus boys. I’m not asking about gig lines and dress attire etiquette. Let’s assume T-Shirts and nylon belts here. Which way to you thread your nylon belt in the context of carrying AIWB?

I keep my buckle to the left between the first and second belt loop. Keeps the buckle from bulging my shirt out when I Have my appendix holster on

Check that gig line.

If we are talking strictly carry, using a volund g hook belt I thread starting on the left, sometimes skipping the first loop depending on its location. The buckle is at 10-11:00. Even when wearing a tucked shirt and nice leather belt I start on the left, though buckle is centered.

Regular leather belt feeds in on left and keep buckle as far left as possible. My Instructor belt feeds in on right because of the long velcro tail. Buckle still stays far left. I'm a righty .

Thread to the left.  Buckle is the first section between loops to the left.  Gives me plenty of space to carry a pistol & spare mag at 1130 & 1230.

Only catch is if you’d have to poop things can get interesting.

Nice to see I’m not the only one loving those DDC monoblock clips.

With AIWB and nylon, I like the ‘buckle/loop’ portion one jean loop to the left, then double back the Velcro portion back to right and over the holster setup. That way the Velcro portion helps smooth over any holster clips etc, and the buckle doesn’t contribute a jumbled clusterfuck where there’s already a holster trying to be concealed.

How perceptive of you.

For me it's the same as most of you.

Right handed, belt threads counterclockwise or to the left. Buckle one belt loop space to the left. There is plenty of space at noon.

I've been doing this for years even before I carried because it keeps my belt buckle from smashing into my skin or snagging my shirt at work when I climb in my machine for a setup.

I thread the belt so that the buckle is closer to my right hip.  This way the holster clips over a single thickness of belt.  Holsters and mag carries ride much better.

@bdover

I've been thinking about getting those, are they steel?

I have the pull dots and they're a bit annoying.

@acks   Yeah, they're steel, they're awesome.  I use them on 2 holsters & one of my mag pouches.  Pretty much all my ccw stuff is held on by DDC clips of some sort.

I recently started wearing mine like this as well. Really helps with "buckle budge". My buckle is about 1/2 way though.
5.11 leather gun belt, Crossbreed IWB mag carrier at the 11 and Vedder Lighttuck about the 1.

Shirt untucked.

Same.

Which mag pouch do you have that fits a monoblock?

@03RN   I use a owb (from DSG I think), that would normally use one of those shitty fomi clips.  Hole pattern is the same so I put a monoblock on it & reversed it so I can carry aiwb with it.  JM Custom aiwb single mag pouch looks like it should also fit the monoblock as the double pull the dot loops appear to be the same footprint.

Jmcustom pouches dont fit.
Bawidaman pouches do work with the single dcc clips though

You guys really have me interested in the DDC monoblock clips. I'm going to get a few and hopefully fit them to my holsters

@03RN , what holster is that 1911 riding in as I'm in the hunt for similar one.  JM Customs I'm guessing.

Lol, been debating using 2 discreet clips spread out like that or going with their mono block for a g29 holster. Think the 2 clips will be a bit more stable possibly?
