It could be several different things or something simple. Without looking at the gun it's almost impossible to tell you what to replace. His best bet is to replace everything with OEM parts.
Most likely it is a bent trigger bar and or a incorrectly bent disconnector. But it also could be a out of spec ejector housing which would put both of the others out of position. The simple solution is to get OEM parts. Does he have any play in the ejector housing, side to side play? |

I had a problem like this in a G19 frame and it was due to the Lonewolf connectors I was trying. Removed them and went to OEM & Ghost and the issues were gone.

I recently had a issue with a SCT19 build and the reset not working correctly. Thought it was the AIM Surplus trigger assy but it turned out to be a Ghost 3.5 Ultimate connector issue. Once I changed out that connector with one from the the AIM frame kit everything was fine. I would lean towards the connector or as said above, the trigger bar.

I have a P80 SS frame G43.
All internals and slide are OEM except trigger shoe. Runs like a champ. |

I have done a P80 PF9SS frame and a Glock Store SS80 frame. I used all OEM parts in both frames without any issues. I have tried the Ghost connectors and had issues in 80% frames and OEM Glock Gen 3 frames.
One thing to remember about the P80 PF9SS frame is that you need to use the correct G43 slide stop. A G48/43X slide stop is different and can/will cause issues. Here is a photo showing the two. The top one is for the G48/43X and bottom one is for the G43.  Attached FileTo answer the OP. The connector is probably the issue OR you are dealing with tolerance stacking between the frame, slide and aftermarket parts. |

Remove the back plate, assemble the gun and look at the engagement of the trigger bar tab where it indexes the striker lug.
I had one do that and a simple bending of the cruciform/tab upward about a 1/16" did the trick. |

Make sure you run a file on all surfaces of the rear frame rail piece. I found very slight burs on that rear frame rail piece that can cause the issues you are seeing. The bur won't be visible but if you run a needle file along all the straight edges is may fix the issue.

I had the same problem with my p80 43.
Having time today to fiddle with it some more, I ended up pulling the flat angle piece from the trigger block, flattened it a bit (less of an angle) and wola, it functions fine.. Before this I had tried 3 different (but identical) trigger bars, 2 connectors and 2 different trigger housings. The serpico trigger functions fine with the 43 and 20, but not the 17 or 19 p80 frames I tried it in. The doohickey doesn't want to engage the frame on them for some reason. Sorry I guess the official name is trigger housing
Range day Top gun has always performed perfectly. 43 was first time shooting, 50 rounds, 2 fte, 2 ftf. I think it was out of battery a bit. I reused a known possibly bad recoil spring, I'll replace it. Bottom is the 10mm, after doing some (lone wulf) barrel work, fed 100% instead of 99% ftf that it was doing. I was making fun of myself for not knowing which exact part you were speaking of. An AR15 I can build from the pins up, but Glocks aren't my thing. My buddy has a new trigger. Not OEM, so we'll see. A pic of the part.  Attached FileThe flat spring is the part I removed and adjusted to get the gun to function. I got no relief from the usual swapping of parts, I'm limited on the number of 43 parts in the parts box, so tried this. After cleaning I racked the slide a couple of times and the recoil spring gave up the ghost.  Attached File |

My only reset issue on a P80 style build was caused by the connector. Went back to a OEM connector and no more problem.

Take a small fine file and file all around the rear locking block are especially where the connector rides. Sometimes there are burrs left from the stamping process
