I have one, it even has the dreaded "hillary hole". I like it a lot, smooth action and good accuracy

I have a 625-6 5-inch from 1989.  Bought it primarily for USPSA competition.  I keep it now, even though it is not longer competitive because it is the most fun revolver I have ever owned.

MOONCLIPS RULE!

OP, here is mine. I settled on a 4" after 6 months of looking for a 3" barreled version. It's a good revolver, accurate, nice trigger, etc. I fixed that damned cunny Hillary-Hole with an "Original Precision" lock delete. The lock delete really finishes the revolver. This was my woods gun because I carried .45Supers in/for it when hiking and kayak fishing but have since started carrying a 3" barreled .44Mag 629... Cylinder refills with Moon-Clips are just as fast as a semi-auto with just a little bit of practice. With lots of practice I'm faster; positive ejection of all 6 cylinders ever time and I really like being able to shoot .45acp, .45acp+P's, .45-Auto-Rim, and .45Super's... Someone said I can shoot .45Gap as well but have yet to try it. I swapped in a Ramped-Front sight for a much better/smoother combat draw. S&W sent it to me for free; the grips are from Altamont... I say FO for it!

Your gun is a little newer than you think. The -6's came along in 1996, and were in production as marked -6 and model of 1989 for several years before the next revision.

My -2 was made in 1989 and is marked model of 1988. My -5 was made in the early 90's/

Shot a 4 inch 625-8 in USPSA until the rules change allowed 8 shooters. Still take her out to the range once in a while. Never fails to bring a smile.

And there are a lot worse guns to be holding when you answer the front door after dark. A big bore N frame revolver makes a statement.

That's an easy fix my brother! I pluged Hillary's Hole in about 30 minutes for about $35... Original Precision has what you need...

My vote is - YES.

I picked one up a few years ago - put a fiber-optic front sight on it, and replaced the grips, and it's one of my favorite range guns.

Have fun,
Bob S.

I went with a model 66 combat magnum. 625 was to big for my oldest son. He is only 14 so I am holding off.

This thread needs some 325pd love.  Big bore snubs are fun!

I admit one box of 50 is usually enough for me.

If the LGS ends up with a 625 in stock I'll be walking away with it.
